Presentura is the bold yet elegant bedside clock that helps you sleep.

Why do clock apps always feel the need to imitate garish LCD displays or anachronistic analog faces? Presentura does away with the ugliness. It focuses on crisp, unadorned type set in Futura, the typeface so important we sent it to the moon.

Minimalistic clocks are too often minimally usable, but Presentura is more than just a pretty face. Presentura has been carefully crafted to give you the best night’s sleep possible. The most ideal sleeping conditions are in pitch blackness, but if we must have an illuminated bedside clock, red light is almost as good. When it’s time to sleep, Presentura switches to a dark red display with minimal brightness. Blue light is energising, so when it’s time to wake up Presentura brightens the room with a blue display. Easily set the wake and sleep times right in the app.

With a need to stay on and unlocked all through the night, Presentura is conscious of battery consumption. Presentura lets you know when your device isn’t plugged in, and won’t keep the screen unlocked if the battery isn’t charging.

Sleep easy with Presentura. Just try not to stay up all night admiring the typography.

I completely designed and created Presentura, including all code development.

I occasionally write opinion pieces on my personal blog, covering topics from usability and design to pop culture. Here’s some examples of my writing:

Robot Fight!

imageTwo robots enter… one robot leaves. It’s the addictive new game that anyone can play!

Robot Fight sees Blue Robot face off against Red Robot. Who will win? The one who punches the most, of course!

Challenge your friends in this very simple yet incredibly fun game. You only need one iPhone or iPod Touch between the two of you, then the one that can punch the fastest wins the fight! You don’t need to know how to fight; your robot just punches whenever you tell it to!

Challenge your friends, the guy next to you waiting for the bus, your grandma, or even yourself! It’s the most fun you can have in under a minute.

I completely designed and created Robot Fight, including all the code development, graphic design, and sound design. Robot Fight is a simple game that allows two players to play on the one iPhone or iPod Touch.

Pirateometer

imageA compass that doesn’t point North? Aye, it’s true the compass doesn’t point North, but you’re not trying to find North, are you?

The Pirateometer is a Magic Pirate Compass. It is unique… true enough, this compass does not point North. Where does it point? It points to the thing you want most in this world.

Just give the Pirateometer a shake, watch it spin, and then: you have your heading!

The Pirateometer is intended only for amusement, not navigation. If you know what you want, the compass will give a sure heading, straight and true. If you do not know what it is you want, the compass will point vaguely and confusedly, or even spin wildly.

The Pirateometer is best used for locating cursed Aztec gold, Shipwreck Cove, or even the heart of Davey Jones!

I completely designed and created Pirateometer, including all code development and graphic design. Pirateometer is mostly intended as an art piece, demonstrating some of the interesting possibilities with the iPhone platform.

Pirateometer is no longer available on the App Store.
