About Aaron

Aaron Moore’s art practice focuses on mark making - both gestural marks and the marks our lives leave on the people and world around us.

Aaron has exhibited in multiple group and solo shows, winning the Walter Bennett Art Award, receiving Highly Commended in the Mandorla Art Award and the St George Art Award, winning the Claremont Local Artist award, and a finalist in numerous art prizes including the Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize, the Fisher Ghost and the Blake Prize.

Some examples of his work include: Into the Gorge - ceramic pieces inspired by the Northern Territory’s rock formations during a 12-month residency in Darwin, One thing you lack - an attempt to grapple with some of the challenges posed by global inequality, The land and its people - insights into life in a Togolese village; and Those who can’t fly and Limbo - reflecting on the challenges of seeking international asylum.

Aaron studied at the National Art School in Sydney and gained his higher education from the University of Oxford, UK, and the University of New South Wales’ Art and Design, Australia, where he earned masters degrees in Refugee Studies (MSc) and Fine Arts (MRes) respectively.

Aaron’s next solo show runs 12-20 January 2024 at Gallows Gallery, Perth.
