Inspired By Travel

I really love everything to do with Antarctica, so it just made sense that I'd do something creatively inspired by the place. I've been there over ten times, and I wish I could live there. I applied to be a scientist over there once, but I didn't have the right qualifications, so I settled for designing and homewares that look like Antarctica.

Fuelled By Passion

Since my interests are so unique, I thought it'd be a really great idea to delve in to the world of homewares with an arctic-inspired twist. All my are shaped and coloured like Antarctica. The kids ones have pictures of polar bears on them, but apart from that, and sometimes I'll do a special order if it's requested, but they're largely fairly plain - just the shape and hues of white, blue and green.

The Market

No one else is doing anything like what I'm doing - I'm so proud of myself for coming up with the idea. I talk about Antarctica all the time to my friends and family, and they're all very educated on the subject. Some have told me to stop, but I just can't help it. When you're really passionate about something, you have to talk about it - it's almost impossible not to. Everyone also gets new Antarctica for Christmases and birthdays.

My Services

  • Designing bed sheets and homewares.
  • All my doona covers are shaped and have lively coloured.
  • Festive design pattern of quilt covers for Christmas and birthdays.
  • Arctic-themed bathroom and beach towels

Expansion

I thought about expanding my online store to include other things, but all I came up with was arctic-themed bathroom. I had to make them quite a bit larger than regular towels because it's a bit hard to wrap yourself in a circle than it is with a rectangle. These aren't hugely popular yet, but I'm still refining my advertising strategy.
