How often do I need to test and tag?
3 months: building, construction and demolition - being a harsh environment where damage is likely, this requires the most frequent testing.
6 months: factories, warehouses and production - because appliances are often used constantly it needs to be tested every 6 months.
12 months: an environment where the equipment/supply cord is prone to flexing or open to abuse, commonly offices and hospitality
5 yearly: an environment where the equipment/supply cord is not prone to flexing or open to abuse - this is commonly referred to as a non-hostile environment - a typical example of this might be a refrigerator or company's server room.
How often do I need to test RCDs?
3 Months: Portable RCDs – RCDs in a power board
12 Months: Fixed RCDs – RCDs installed in a switchboard
Do you need to turn my appliance or power off?
To test your appliances, we will need to unplug them, we will keep this disruption to a minimum, only unplugging them one at a time before returning them to service. To test your RCDs the circuit the RCD is protecting will need to be switched off for a minute or two.
