Josh Caught with Cell Phone

 Josh was caught with a cell phone.  This is among the group of second worst crimes in the federal prison system.  It's particularly bad for Josh given his crime.

He was put in the SHU (Special Housing Unit) and lost almost all privileges.  In addition he lost good time credits so his release date moved from August to October.  When his time in the SHU is up he could even be moved to a different prison.

I think this blog has served its purpose and it's approaching the time to close it.  

Once Josh has been sentenced and the federal prison announced, I expect to close access for new posts and comments.

Those who voted all said names on posts work better and no requested the anonymous option.  We'll have a week long transition period and after that posts marked anonymous will not be accepted.  Either sign in with a Google account, use openID, or use the name/URL option to put a name with your comment.

The problem continues of people hitting respond to comments rather than post a comment.  Please try not to do that.  Most of those are being rejected as they seem to be from the same one or two people who don't seem to understand that the replied to comment is not connected at all when it posts on the blog. Thus they don't make sense.  Please see the entire post about that if you have questions.   

Reminder, anonymous comments are no longer being accepted.  Further I don't read anonymous comments.  They go straight into the trash.

I need to explain something.

I'm making this a post so everyone will hopefully see it.  There has been a huge increase in people replying to comments with the expectation apparently that either the previous comment will be quoted or their comment will fall under the one to which they responded.  Neither one happens in the format we are using on many platforms.  So comments that don't contain any context like I agree make no sense.  You agree with what?  There are 200 comments above yours.  That is wrong?  Which one?  I think you get the idea.  So please remember if you pick an option such as reply to, you are not replying to that when it hits the blog for a large number of readers.

ETA:  Apparently I'm still not getting through to people.  Someone asked why I was selective with comments.  Oddly it was one of the people this post is aimed toward.   I'm selective first because rude, crude, and indelicate are not acceptable.  Other things like birthing wars have no place here.  But recently nonsensical comments because of the manner of posting are becoming a bigger and bigger issue.

Here is an example from someone who did not read this post and I also believe is the one who asked why posting was selective.

in response to I am going to try to say this as politely as possible, but Jessa really showed her true colors during this episode. I know its an ego trip to have a show wrapped around your wedding and the modeling of wedding dresses, but really? Her smugness and mean-ness was just over-the-top. I was shocked, even for Jessa, how arrogant her talking segments were. I shouldn't have been, however, as I well remember how hateful she was to Hannie about taking a nap once. Anyone could have a bad day, but this is, apparently, the real Jessa and it is not pretty at all.

As you can see, the commenter knows to which comment they are replying, but all that will post on the blog for many people is "I agree."  So then it becomes you agree with what?  It's meaningless and gets deleted.

I don't plan to change the name of the blog based on the cancellation.  However, I could change from a monthly discussion thread to one for six months or so and of course there won't be new episode threads.  If Jana should get married or something similar we might have a thread for that.  In fact I think I'll put up a Josh misdeeds thread now for the court case.

This year's message is a bit different. It's a plea to be safe and keep others safe. 

I saw this on FB and it applies to the Duggars and their ilk. 

 Dear Church: I can’t see Christ through you.I’m a nurse working during a global pandemic and here’s what I see. I see packed auditoriums for festive Christmas programs with almost no masks, and zero social distancing in Missouri. I know what this will mean for my colleagues in the weeks to come. They’ll work feverishly right around Christmas to save the lives of people who attended those events, or family members of people who attended these events. They’ll have to work overtime over the holiday to give the afflicted the best chance of survival. They’ll put themselves in harms way to do that. I see you trading your right to gather for the medical staff’s ability to spend Christmas with their children. I see you relishing your right to fellowship while denying someone else the right to breathe and survive. I don’t see love. I don’t see compassion. I don’t see self sacrifice. I don’t see any of the things that you claim to stand for. But I see those who protect the right to live, I see self sacrifice and I see compassion in the bustling halls of the ER wards and the deafening silence of the ICU. 

 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

I see a pastor from Michigan encouraging his congregation to contract Covid-19. I know that when an entire church goes out looking to become intentionally ill, some of them will meet Jesus sooner rather than later. I see the impending mourning that these families will go through. I see the tired doctors and nurses who will lose their own faith while watching others intentionally suffer to demonstrate theirs.

Matthew 4:7 Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

I see people who describe themselves as pro-life actively participating in the deaths of the vulnerable while they offer prayers to undo their own doing. I see believers giving the credit to god for recoveries that came as a result of medical providers’ heroic efforts and emotional turmoil. I see people clutching rosaries as they’re intubated. I hear prayers offered over speaker phones and iPads. I’ve seen the faithful die. I see my church going friends post pictures of travel, packed churches, and support for ideas about this virus being a hoax, while doctors and nurses stay isolated away from family and friends to protect them and try hard to warn of the reality behind the hospital doors -only to be mocked. 

But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

I see a lot of things, but I don’t see Christ. I hear a lot of things, but I don’t hear the voice of the lord. I feel a lot of things but I don’t feel the love of the church. I read a lot of things but none of the things I read are congruent with the written word of god. 

 Dear church, this was your moment to witness to the world, and you have witnessed. Oh, you have witnessed. 

 Proverbs 14:25 A truthful witness saves lives, but one who breathes out lies is deceitful.
