GETTING STARTED GUIDE
The following sections will give you a brief introduction on how to getting started using WeGolf on and off the course. This is intended to be a quick guide to get you going. Note that HELP is found in every screen of the WeGolf phone application.
Entering new players (2 Options)
You can enter player information either on the phone directly, or log on to the web and do it there.
1. Phone:
From the WeGolf main menu select
Enter the player information (
Press Save
2. Web:
In WeGolf all information exchanged by the web and the phone program is over the air. This means no cables or troublesome connections and you can do it from any location at any time.
Player Information: Web to Phone
When asked, allow WeGolf to use the Internet to send and receive data.
From the WeGolf main menu select Players → Download
From the list of players, check the one(s) you want
Course Information: Web to Phone:
When asked, allow WeGolf to use the Internet to send and receive data.
From the WeGolf main menu Select Courses → Download
Select World to get a list of countries
Select Country to get a list of golf course folders. Folders are alphabetically sorted on the 3 first letters of the course name.
Select a course folder to get a list of courses.
Select the course(s) you want to download by checking the box and press Dload
The course(s) including it's scorecard and GPS coordinates are now stored in your phone.
TIP:
Setup your phone to use your home country. Select Preferred, check your home country and press Save.GPS Activation
To get distances on the golf course, you need to activate GPS. There are 3 options to do this:
From the WeGolf main menu, select GPS
Built in GPS: For users with internal GPS in their phone. Select and give your phone permission to use GPS.Be patience, GPS activation can take several minutes to get a satellite fix. Once a fix is establish, the GPS screen will show your position. Select back to return to the main menu.
Discover GPS - Is for users with a bluetooth GPS device. Select and give your phone permission to use GPS. Be patience, GPS activation can take several minutes to get a satellite fix. Once a fix is establish, the GPS screen will show your position. Select back to return to the main menu.
Com Ports -Is for users with GPS connected to a com port. (i.e. the Sony Ericsson HGE-100) Select this and your phone will locate your BT GPS and connect. Be patience, GPS activation can take several minutes to get a satellite fix. Once a fix is establish, the GPS screen will show your position. Select back to return to the main menu.
Scoring with or without using GPS
From the WeGolf main menu, select Rounds → New
Select a course to play - press next
Select one or more players – press next
Adjust the player(s) starting tee and handicap as required – press next
Your round has begun and the scorecard is shown
Select your starting hole, i.e, hole 1, hole 10 or whichever hole you are starting from WeGolf will display the distance to all marked points of interest (POI) on the hole and update as you move closer to the green. Once you have finished playing the hole, press back
Fill in the score and putts – press back to go to next hole
Note: Your score is automatically posted on the web so that when you get back, you can analyse your round on your computer. This also means that you can invite your golf buddies to follow you live on the course. Read here how to do this
On Course Stats
On the phone you can get statistics in two places:
From the screen where you input your score for the hole, press the '#' key 2 times. WeGolf will display the current stats on all players
From the scorecard menu press options followed by statistics to view detailed stats for all player(s). A bit of fun for the 19th hole
Web Stats
To see your score on the web
Log into your WeGolf homepage:
Under Rounds you will see your detailed scorecard
Under Players there is a statsistics icon to the left of the player's name (this is where you find your stats)
Distance without scorekeeping
Select Courses and choose a course to play
Select GPS Coordinates
Move to hole you are on, and select Distances
WeGolf has a unique capabillity to publish your score and strokes live on the web so that your friends can follow your game live from their phone or computer.
This feature is by default turned on, so that between every hole WeGolf will publish your score on the web automatically.
INVITE AUDUENCE
When you have started a round. In the scorecard menu, you can select share round and invite your golf buddies to watch your score as you play. You can send them an email, or SMS.
TURN OFF LIVESCORE
If you do not want to publish your score:
WeGolf also contains several other unique features, most of them found in the Tools menu.
For the more advances users its possible to measure how far you hit with different clubs, plot all strokes on satellite images etc. Please refer to the wegolf web site for more information about this.
