“It is not in doing what you like, but in liking what you do that is the secret of happiness.”

The Beautiful Honorable Mentions!
This photo was created for {NanTra}'s Photo Contest "What is this Thing?" They created a strange, square object that included several poses and asked their customers to tell them what they thought it was. It is a huge stone-like object, so it is no surprise that many of the participants seemed to be leaning toward monuments. There also seemed to be a gravitation toward underwater structures, which was interesting! My first thought was cat food. That didn't seem very appetizing though, so I thought of a few more things and strangely, they were all from the perspective of a little person. Like a Borrower from Arrietty. (I'm a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki!) Anyway, I finally settled on candy! The little guy, who is far smaller than a Borrower, is assisting in delivering the candy to an eager giant, who has an insatiable sweet tooth. Everyone knows that little people make the best candies and sweet things. The giant knew this, too. He would often raise the roofs off of their homes and shops trying to find the candies! The little people, knowing well of his intense hunger for candy, created this conveyor belt so that they could deliver sweets to him in hopes to keep the giant happy and have their homes be spared of his looting. They even created special giant-sized candies just for him! All the giant has to do, is ring the bell at the gate and the little people will heave his candy on the belt and send it toward his open mouth. In this photo, the candy got stuck on the end of the conveyor belt, as sticky candy often does, so the little man had to go out to help to un-stick it. Let us just hope that he doesn't fall in too! That would be awful... And the candy would probably end up tasting really, really bad. A special thanks to Daryoon Kroll for modeling as the Giant. UPDATE: This photo was chosen as first place winner in {NanTra}'s Photo Contest "What is this Thing?" Many thanks to the wonderful people at {NanTra} for the opportunity and their consideration!

I also had the opportunity to do two pieces on the character "Jack," from the tale Jack and the Beanstalk.
