Hi, my name is Julia.
I have a BSc honours degree in psychology and am a qualified dog trainer (IMDT) https://www.imdt.com.au/find-a-qualified-imdt-trainer.
I set up Paws Pet Care in 2014 and since then have been working full-time as a Dog Trainer and Dog Walker (interspersed with a few Pet Minding jobs). It is my own business and I work alone. I am based in Leeming, WA and cover surrounding suburbs (see ‘Services and Pricing’ page for a list of suburbs I cover).
Prior to this, I gained 20+ years experience with dogs working as a vet nurse and at an animal shelter in London, and volunteering at dog kennels and dog training clubs in London and Perth, as well as volunteering for over 10 years as a dog walker for people who are unable to walk their dogs due to illness/disability (Cinnamon Trust, UK & POOPS WA).
I offer social off-lead group walks, special needs walks, and training options including for reactive dogs.
Many of my social group dogs start out with me as training clients and with a little training of dog and owner they are now happily integrated into off-lead group walks with much improved behaviour (see my reviews on ‘Testimonials’ page. There are links there too to my reviews on Google, Facebook and Gumtree – all 5 star).
I receive referrals from local veterinarians and other professional dog trainers.
I also provide a pet home visit service if you go away and need someone to visit /feed your pets/walk your dogs/scoop poop/water your plants/get your mail in etc.
I am up to date with my Dog First Aid (Feb 2020) (see all my qualifications and certificates below).
Learning about dog psychology, behaviour and training techniques is my passion so I spend much of my free time improving my knowledge and skills.
I use force-free, reward-based training techniques.
My education, maturity, responsibility, reliability, experience and confidence with animals along with my caring nature means that you can rest assured you and your pets will be provided with excellent care and services (see my reviews on ‘Testimonials’ page).
I have a current police clearance and am insured with QBE for pet services and public liability.
