Tis The Season…

Well dear Sirens you can practically hear the bells jingling, the corks popping and the clickety-clack of sky-high stilettos.

The Festive Season is here and we all know what that means…party time! In honour of the festive season, I’ve selected my top three must have party shoes that will set you strutting in style this silly season!

The black gem Krystal heel practically sings festive season! The cut-out detailing is bang on-trend and the full support makes this the perfect dancing shoe!

I am positively ob-sessed with the ankle candy on the Krissy! Can’t you imagine shimmying the night away in these!? And the nude-gold colour combo is still a massive trend for summer.

It’s not summer without slipping your feet into a strappy stiletto sandal! Tyton’s oh so sleek, fine stud-ware makes this sandal a must have shoe this holiday season.

Since this will be my last blog for the year I thought I would send out a little wish-list to dear Santa Claus, since I will need some a-maze frocks to wear with my Sirens, so Dear Santa when your sleigh flies over my chimney this year, please can you drop in the following:

This cherry red Armani mini that Megan Fox wore, or maybe even the Lover lace number that Miranda rocked so well. These will work perfectly with my Tytons, thank you.

And also, please add this Rodarte frock that we saw on ScarJo, and I die for this Peter Pilotto top and Alexander McQueen skirt that Gwen totally rocked. I know, a total must-have for the Krystals.

Oh and if there’s room, please also pop in this Zuhair Murad mini dress that Taylor Swift wore – I think it will be heaven with my Krissys. Thanks Santa!!!

Err can you tell that I’m slightly obsessed with a long-sleeve mini dress this cocktail season?

Signing off for the silly season, stay safe and stylish dear Sirens.

Much love

Stakes Day…

November 13, 2012 § Leave a comment

So there’s a running joke in the Birdcage during the Melbourne Cup Carnival that you can spend an entire day on the track and never see a horse! Well I’m proud to say that this year I saw one up close and personal!

The star of the musical The War Horse, “Joey”, was the special guest on Stakes Day and he literally stole the show!

I was lucky enough to secure a quick chat with his keeper, and it was uncanny the way Joey reacted and moved during our interview: flapping his ears back and forth and sticking his head in front of the lens, just the way a real horse would do! It was truly incredible!

My feet were pretty much exhausted by Day 4, so I went with the York sandal which had a totally appropriate heel height…perfect for these weary soles! Worn here with a Burberry coat which I’ve had for a couple of seasons now, a pair of H&M Trousers and a Mango clutch. The sombrero was purchased on my recent trip to Spain and managed to survive many plane trips to make it home. It was definitely cool to rock the feathery fascinator trend and go for something a little edgier for my final look.

Hope you’ve enjoyed the M Cup Carni, can’t wait for next year!!!

Oaks Day Festivities

November 12, 2012 § Leave a comment

Another day, another trip to the track! This time for Ladies day, and all the ladies were in fine form!

There were some spectacular looks complemented with stunning, strange & sublime headwear.

I was lucky enough to rock a custom couture suit made by good friend and fellow Project Runway designer William Lazootin. He literally whipped this up in no time flat…such a genius! What do you think of the ’40s inspired, coral wool two-piece?

Worn here with the nude & rose gold ‘Inez’…I am seriously OB-sessed with this shoe! Love love love it! Plus it was super comfy to wear all day. Bonus! And topped off with a crown headpiece, you know, as you do. Well the Royals were in town so I thought I’d get a little regal myself!

Also what do you think of the Fashions on the Field Winner Amy Robson? She’s driving off in a shiny Lexus, lucky lady!

M Cup, Giddy Up!

November 8, 2012 § Leave a comment

Phew! Survived another amaaaaaazing day at the 2012 Melbourne Cup. The champagne was flowing and we had Neil Perry, Celebrity Chef, prepping the most delish treats for us all day!

It was such a spectacular day, and this year International Actress Rose Byrne popped in for the festivities and caused quite the media storm!!!

Hope you like my frock by Project Runway Australia Winner Anthony Capon. Headpiece by Anna della Russo for H&M and ‘knuckle duster’ clutch was recently purchased in Paris. My trusty ‘Subduce’ Sirens were the perfect accompaniment for this look – equal parts bling and rock. Love!

Giddy up!!! My favourite time of the year is here again….bring on M Cup!!! Now of course footwear is VITAL on long days at the track, so if you’re wondering which Sirens to rock each day, wonder no more, as I’ve put together a handy guide to my favourite styles for each of the Racing days. Check it out on our Facebook page here:

http://www.facebook.com/sirenshoes

BUT in the meantime, if you want to see some of the festivities that I got up to on Derby Day…scroll down! Decked out in Craig Braybrook couture and Kerrie Stanley millinery, I decided to buck the black and white trend and add a pop of colour to my Derby attire. Complimented PERFECTLY with my blood orange ‘Indies’. Heaven, don’t you agree??

I was lucky enough to chat to some of Australia’s biggest stars in the Lexus lounge…hope you enjoy the behind the scenes shots!

And please please please dear Sirens, post your Racing looks on our Facebook page…I cannot wait to see how you’ve styled your Sirens for the track!

Siren Heart Milano Street Style…

October 11, 2012 § 2 Comments

There was just too much fash fodder to limit the Milano Street Style to just one blog!

Here are a few of the more colourful characters I spied lining the cobblestones.

How genius is the orange suit guy in head-to-toe hue, complete with cigar! And the ‘Fashion Victims’ glasses on denim dude are too ridic not to share!

Enjoy!!

Milano Fashion Week

October 3, 2012 § Leave a comment

“Let’s just have a good time; we got it comin’.” was the opening track of the Moschino show and in these days of downturn, you can imagine the Italians clinging to the sentiments of that song. And we all revered the Italians for delivering everything we’ve grown to love and expect from them: a week filled with glamour, colour and energy. Vivre Milano!

There were monochromatic glimpses, following on from NYCFW to indicate we’ll inevitably be heading in that direction. Prada, Missoni, Marni and Pucci – houses all renowned for their use of colour divulged completely monochromatic pieces in an iconoclastic move.

But when the Milanese did do colour they went over the top, with colour worn head-to-quite-literally-toe with sunglasses, bags and shoes matched to outfits like at Gucci. Antonio Marras and Blumarine showed almost the entire spectrum of the rainbow palette.

Prints were everywhere. Paisley at Etro, Python at Just Cavalli, and more bizarrely street-theatre puppets, and collectible head-shaped vases and dishes at Dolce and Gabbana. Strikingly lacking in prints was Emilio Pucci – the house that was virtually built on the print.

Artisanship of Japan was referenced everywhere with reworked Kimonos at Prada, Etro and Pucci.

Constructed, futuristic uppers at Fendi will definitely be the most coveted shoe of the season with a style that almost subtly referenced the Sydney Opera House…maybe Karl dashed down under for his inspiration??? Although the creeper of the week has to be the fabulous Beth Ditto from Gossip belting out her hit “Standing in the Way of Control” at the Versus parade.

Below are my selects of the week…which one’s your fav????

SoleSiren: Milano Strada Stile

October 1, 2012 § Leave a comment

Or Milan Street Style, to you and me! Just trying to get a bit fancy with the local lingo, as you do when in Rome, or err Milan. It was a pretty spectacular week spotting some of the biggest names in fashion strutting the streets. Once I saw Franca Sozzani, Editor in Chief of Vogue Italia walking her dog in stilettos and head-to-toe couture on the Monte Napoleone!!! But the biggest fashgasm came when I saw my personal style icon, Anna Della Russo flashing past! Would love to share these pics with you but alas I was too busy stupidly staring to snap a flash! Rookie!

All perfect inspiration for the observing fashionista, and many a times I was asking myself ‘why didn’t I come up with that?!’. I love being challenged as a stylist and seeing the new prints-on-prints slash pop-of-colour slash statement accessory.

There were too many favourites to choose from, but below is a selection of snaps I took for you.

Favoloso!! (Fabulous that is, and they say it with such enthusiasm…might just take this saying home with me!)

SoleSiren Friday Fashgasm!!

September 28, 2012 § Leave a comment

Ciao Sirenas!!

This weeks Friday Fashgasm has come all the way from Milano. Milan Fashion Week in fact!!

This was shot front row at the Rocco Barocco show, which was a rainbow medley of fantastic foil prints and metallic textiles and slashed panels. The looks were completed with equally outrageous heels!

It’s kinda hard to spy from this angle but I’m rocking a very sensible flat, at Fashion Week I know?? But let me assure you the cobblestones are killers, and I watched many a doyenne come to her folly! These are the Siren ‘Bolt’ sandals in mint, kind of a nice tie-in with the mint Topshop bag I thought. The dress is a custom couture piece from William Lazootin, of Project Runway fame, love the cut-out back!!

I’ve included a couple of the location shots, so you can get a vibe for what it was like….such a spectacular backdrop for an amazing week!

Double air-kisses Sirenas! Ciao Ciao x

Minty Fresh…

September 25, 2012 § Leave a comment

Elevating the freshness at New York Fashion Week to all new levels was the colour mint.

Alice and Olivia kept it playful showing neutral tones with highlights of Aqua. A great way to update your look is with accessories like they’ve done here with the oversize bag.

Carlos Miele shimmied in an aqua accordion-pleated, asymmetrical hemline maxi. And you know how I love some embellishments….why not go for a hint of aqua to brighten up a basic white.

Catherine Malandrino presented a minted version of the shade, complete with leg-o-mutton sleeve shirts. Are they back in???

Charlotte Ronson’s girl is so cool it hurts, in an aqua plastic track jacket. Warning: wear only out of direct sunlight!

Cushnie et Ochs presented one of my favourite dresses for the season. Chic, elegant, cutout. Heaven!

The master of print Diane Von Furstenberg managed to team aqua and red in a new colour combinatin that’s oh-so-fresh. Be careful when trying this at home as you may end up less DVF and more Merry Xmas!

Escada draped some divine jersey to create this elegant maxi.

Monique Lhuillier took a lot of the new seasons trends and combined them in one: extended raglan sleeves, peplum skirts, digital prints, animal textures. There’s a lot going on here, but I kinda like it!

Rachel Zoe’s girl is a fab reflection of the Zoe-bot herself: modern, elegant and touch boho. Just missing a pair of oversize shades.

I love a long sleeve mini-dress and so does Rodarte, and my hat goes off to the sisterly designers for managing to make a skivvy look cool!

Here’s my top picks from Siren’s new collection for injecting a splash of aqua-minty-freshness into your ensemble: Arky, Joyce and Paris…
