25/05/2024 to 26/05/2024 | EOM @ Araps/Dyurrite - May Location: Mount Arapiles
Leader: Michael O'Reilly
Details: Dyurrite/Mt Arapiles provides magnificent climbing days in late autumn. There are plenty of options when choosing cliffs at this time of the year. Depending on the weather, multipitch-climbing on the Watchtower Faces, Pharos or The Organ Pipes can be perfect. On other days, the single pitch climbing of Central Gully Left might be best. Or go for a walk towards the Northern Group and climb at some of the more sun-soaked crags.
We will be camping in The Pines, close to the action. There is no better rock to fondle than the hard quartzite of Arapiles, so contact your Trip Leader, Michael O'Reilly, to register your interest.
These EOM@Araps/Dyurrite trips are intended for all levels of climbers, however Beginner spaces are limited by the number of experienced leaders who come along. It is recommended that Beginners contact the Trip Leader as soon as possible.
All intending participants must contact the trip leader prior to the trip. Please send through some details about your experience and climbing gear and hopefully we'll see you there.
Car-pooling will be facilitated using a google spreadsheet for those who are interested. This is optional and each individual needs to make their own risk assessment regarding COVID and choosing to car-pool. Leader: Robert Bannwart
Details: Come along and enjoy the wide variety of easy to moderate sport climbing routes at I Forget Walls in the Northern Grampians.
I Forget Walls is only a half an hour, easy walk from Stapylton Campground. This long, single pitch cliff hosts a great variety of easy to moderate sport and trad routes. It's a wonderful place to hang out on a sunny winter's day. Be aware, the cliff faces West and it might be a bit chilly in the morning, until the sun hits the cliff in the afternoon. Pack some warm clothes. All fixed protection is stainless steel and the lines are equipped with rap rings or stainless 'clip and lower' anchors. Packing a stick clip is worthwhile as some of the first bolts can be fairly high off the deck.
As two days at I Forget Walls is probably enough, depending on participants interest, we could also head to other nearby crags such as Sentinel, Tribute or West Flank for the last day.
We are going to camp at Stapylton Campground. I have prebooked some camping sites for the VCC, but because of the long weekend, places are limited. Get in fast if you are interested in joining this trip.
This trip is open for all levels of climbers. However, beginner spaces are limited by the number of experienced leaders who come along. It is recommended that beginners and intermediate climbers contact the Trip Leader as soon as possible.
All intending participants must contact Robert Bannwart, the trip leader, prior to the trip. Please send through some details about your experience and climbing gear and hopefully we'll see you there. Camping spots are very limited, so this trip is definitely only for pre-booked participants.
Car-pooling will be facilitated using a google spreadsheet for those who are interested. This is optional and each individual needs to make their own risk assessment regarding COVID and choosing to car-pool.
Note that the Mt Zero Rd is closed at the moment for vehicles heading north from Halls Gap or Plantation Campground. Other options, all longer, are available. [ More ] |
