About
From Oscar Wilde to Seth Godin, the great communicators have understood that creating remarkable content (content worth remarking about) is the key to creating interest and engagement, on the way to brand awareness, sales, and profit.
In fact, the name of my enterprise, Talked About Marketing, is based on Oscar Wilde’s famous quip: There’s only one thing worse than being talked about and that’s NOT being talked about!
At Talked About Marketing, we focus on finding and mining the gems of interesting content already within your organisation and your story, and then shaping our findings into marketing content that’s worth talking about.
But “talk” for its own sake is cheap. So, we take an earnest approach to strategy creation, branding development, content marketing planning and creation, to make sure we’re highlighting the most important and relevant things to the most important and relevant audiences.
Therefore, we now say: There’s only one thing better than being talked about and that’s getting customers!
As Wilde might have said, That’s the importance of marketing earnestly!
I work directly with clients, run workshops, deliver keynote presentations, write blog articles, MC events, and produce a number of podcasts, while also running the kitchen as head chef at home as we raise two daughters.
Here's hoping we might work together or cross paths in a mutually enriching way.

What do you do if your career goals don't align with your boss's expectations in the podcasting field?
Aside from the topic at hand, I now understand that LinkedIn is not as smart as it pretends to be. It’s asked me to answer what I would do if I failed to live up to my boss’ expectations in the field of podcasting. The merest cursory glance at my LinkedIn profile would show that I run my own business, so the notion of a boss does not connect to me at all. Secondly, I lead five different podcasts. It’s the most bizarre thing for LinkedIn to say that I had been personally selected to provide an answer on this question. Ironically, I will make use of this in my podcast, Talking About Marketing.

What do you do if your podcast guests constantly cancel last minute?
In 10 years of podcasting, I’ve only had guests cancel twice. On both occasions, I have suggested an alternative, and when they cancel that again, that’s it, game over. We move on. This is especially the case, if your podcast is a passion project and is producing a gift for the community, or a community. Life‘s too short to pander to people who don’t respect your efforts, and there are always plenty of other guests to chat to.

Activities and Societies: Political ideology and its communication through propaganda Key political concepts – freedom, justice, community, territory, and consumption The articulation of political ideas through images, texts and objects Interdisciplinary perspectives on ideology from politics, history, sociology, classics, psychology, and media studies The relationship between such everyday activities as consumption, cooking, and living in urban spaces with political beliefs
This was a great course. I started it in 2017 and finished it in 2018 with a break in the middle. Very appropriate for deepening my understanding of how marketing and influence are entwined with propaganda, and vice versa.
