What do you do if you're a film production professional afraid to delegate important tasks?
Film is a collaborative medium. If you're the Director, you need to share your vision with the Heads of Dept (HODs) and trust & empower them to go and do their thing. They will come back to you for input and sign-off, so it's not usually a 'one-and-done' thing but and ongoing collaboration. If you're a HOD or someone else on the production, you need to get the Director's vision and pass it on. Or it could also be about passing on technical approach. Bear in mind, that filmmaking is also about compromise. Sometimes compromising on your own vision/way of getting things done and other times compromising on quality for speed, or some other logistical weighing of factors.

What do you do if you're a film production professional afraid to delegate important tasks?
If you're trepedatious about handing tasks over it might be for good cause. Maybe the person you want/need to had over doesn't have the skills to do the task or is new to the team and doesn't have an understanding yet of what needs to be done or how it needs to be done. If it's a recurring task, spend the time to thouroughly teaching them how to do it. First, tell them what to do. Then, show them how to do it, being sure to teach them any underlying principles about why it's important and philiosophy of your approach. Then have them do it in front of you. Finally, trust them to do it on their own. If they fail to meet your expectations in anyway, provide clear straight feedback about what you need done differently until the get it right.
