Welcome to the Brooklyn Industrial Precinct website.

This website provides information on the activities of state and local government agencies, industry and the community to address noise, odour and air quality concerns from the Brooklyn Industrial Precinct.

As far back as the 1870s local residents in the western suburbs have expressed concern about the quality of air and water as a result of industrial activity. Brick making, quarrying, fat boiling, meat canning and candle making were common industries and the Maribyrnong River was used as a sewer for untreated industry waste.

While there has been significant improvement in industry performance, the environmental health and livability for the residents surrounding the Brooklyn Industrial Precinct remains a priority.
