My Tastes

Many people have never really understood my tastes. Growing up I was never a collector like my siblings and friends.

I liked to have River Designs on display and wasn't a big fan of 'things'.

As I entered adulthood this trait stayed with me and became a part of who I am.

I started studying interior design at university and that is where I first learned about Peter Stutchbury.

His Work

The work of Peter Stutchbury was minimalism at its best. The invisible house essentially defined how I saw myself and how I saw my work and I felt attached to his simplistic style, accentuating the natural environment that so pleasantly surrounded and playing up the wondrous views of Megalong Valley. I was enthralled throughout the lecture as I learned more and more about the life and work of this man and felt a deep connection to his work.

Holiday Time

The uninterrupted bush, the rows of trees, the low, long roof that effectively let the sun in while keeping the harsher elements out.

After learning about Stutchbury in one of our lectures, I felt compelled to take the trip to 2493 Jenolan Caves Road to find about more about him and his work.

It was the picture of tranquillity and it inspired the direction for my work.

Career Path

I was no architect and knew I would never be one, my eye for detail came on the inside of the house. I loved designing minimalist houses and was excited to set myself up in the market. The inspiration from seeing Peter Stutchbury's invisible house was just what I needed to provide me with the push to do what I loved. I decided to set up my minimalist interior design company.
