For more than 20 years Anti-Poverty Week has operated in Australia around the 17th of October, the UN Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Our purpose is to help Australians understand poverty and to take action collectively to end it.

Anti-Poverty Week 2024 will run from Sunday 13 October to Saturday 19 October.

We are a diverse network of individuals and organisations who share this purpose and we focus our activity each year in the week around the United Nations Day for the Eradication of Poverty on 17 October.

More than 3.24 million people live below the poverty line in Australia, including nearly 774,000 children or 1 in 6. Globally 700 million people are unable to meet their basic daily needs and live on less than US$2 a day.

Find out ways you can help lift up those who are facing poverty and hardship. Organise an activity in your community, school or workplace!
