There are many people in NSW addressing youth homelessness on a daily basis. They work as case managers, counsellors, referral points and supports for young people in need. They interact with young people and know how the system works from the ground up. Without a doubt, they are the treasure chest to figuring out how we can best help young people who aren't so lucky.

We are part of the community that thinks this expertise should be valued and that the NSW Government should seek out the opinion of the sector before any major changes to it occur.

Recently this hasn't happened and that's why we've created this petition. The NSW Government plans to transfer the management of specialist homelessness services to a different division. Since the sector wasn't involved in the decision they haven't been able to raise any of the concerns they have around what might be a negative move. We don't think this is fair to young people or to those who work for them.

So please, if you value communication and the expertise of a sector that fights daily for young people in need, sign this petition.
