Sphyraena flavicauda spotted by Andrew Green
New South Wales,
I recorded approx 500 of these on a survey at Captains Point Jervis Bay recently. They followed me for the entire survey, which is barracuda-like behaviour (cf longfin pike which don't tend to follow you). ID by RSS from RLS who said could also be S obtusata, but FoA website says these may be synonyms. NB: range TBA for this species, but what interests me is if it IS a range extension, does it mean that a whole school came south together via the EAC (cf the occasional solitary visitor or larvae / small juveniles)?

Sphyraena obtusata spotted by Andrew Green
New South Wales,
Compare previous two logged sightings. This is now all I have of S obtusata, but I have S flavicauda also from Qld (and Indonesia and Tonga)
