Day 2 conditions were more spicy with a 15-18kts NE’ly and with a larger NE’ly swell which was great for surfing conditions. Full results are following, but to say the finishes were close would be an understatement, keeping the race officers busy.
In the overall results, there were ties to split for 2nd/3rd, 4th/5th as well as 9th/10th, but at the end of the day Ashley Smith and Kim Thumpkin took out the win with some great performances and fleet management. The Silver Fleet trophy was won by Peter Croft and Lindsay Gilbert. Congratulations also to Peter Shaw and Jonah Sayer for winning the Most Improved award with an outstanding 2nd day. Big thanks to the PRO John Mitchell, and all the volunteers on the start boats, rescue boats and the organisers – the event would not be possible without you.
There was much talk of the upcoming National Championships to be held at Lake Macquarie Yacht Club in January – get your entries in!! We hope to see everyone there! Let us know if want to be there but are having troubles in some way.
The next State Championship event will be held in Tin Can Bay and we can’t wait! It’s a great part of the world, with great sailing waters (but don’t tell anyone!)
