The Amazingly Generous Pickens

May 25, 2008

After checking out my Technorati profile, I browsed the net and came across a news about the $100 Million academic gift to Oklahoma State University. Wow, what a lucky university! I then read the news and became even amazed to the person behind the said $100 million gift. The donor’s name is T.Bonne Pickens who is an alumnus of OSU.

I searched about T.Bonne Pickens and found out that he is in the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s list of top U.S. philanthropists and has now given over than $700 million to philanthropy! Whew! I can not contain my admiration to his generosity in giving away huge sum of money to help improve the lives of so many people as well as to his exceptional capacity of earning enormous sum of money.

He is so awesome and sure a very fortunate individual on Earth tasked to make & multiply money tremendously.  I hope that all rich individuals around the globe will be as generous as Pickens because if that happens, the scarcity in the world will significantly reduce.

Trying Out The Squidoo

May 24, 2008

I heard about Squidoo even before I started blogging but I did not bother to check it out until a friend mentioned it to me last night. So just this morning, I immediately went to Squidoo, look around and decided to start a lens.

Squidoo is great because majority of the information you can find there are quite useful. Squidoo is one site where you can read a lot of insightful write-ups and do-it-yourself tips. Everybody at Squidoo share their expertise or what they know about something and this actually give me a bit of hesitation whether I could fit in it.

So I think about something that I learn recently and online social networking suddenly popped in my mind. I just recall what I learned and put them together. Sure it is not that comprehensive but it still contain some social networking tidbits that might be useful to novice social networkers who are still in the process of learning it.

By simply peeking in TechCrunch, I can become acquainted to the newest web services, internet products and companies in the WWW. Another must visit website whether you are a student, an employee or an entrepreneur is the Lifehacker.  This is a website that features tech tricks, tips and cool downloads that you can use to your day to day living. Lifehacker frequently talks about online tool and tips about learning and productivity which are all helpful to keep our lifestyle easy and more organized. For the latest tech gadgets, gizmos and electronics, one can always count on with CNetPCWorld and The Gadgeteer.

And lastly, if you are looking for a better entertainment alternative, try listening or watching podcasts as there are already lots of video and audio podcasts that can compete to your traditional TV or radio favorites when it comes in content and style. Some popular directories of podcasts are BlubrryPodcast Pickle and my all time favorite- iTunes Podcast Directory.

Nosy About Twitter

April 18, 2008

Twitter is almost everywhere; check out your favorite blogs and you can surely find two to three Twitter users at once. It shows the recent activities of a person anytime of the day and for me. it is a nice and efficient way to update or inform your network without the need of sending individual or group messages.

For students who are working on a project, using Twitter is helpful especially when the group members are not working in one place. You can update one another in real-time and even use your mobile phone to send in an SMS and Twitter will send it out to your group of friends and then posts it to your Twitter page. Cool isn’t?

That is why, I decide to try it out and now, I have my own Twitter to tweet and be tweeted 😉
