About Us
Experienced and Creative Designers
Quality Steel Buildings is a family owned business. We are located close to the Co Down village of Kilcoo near Castlewellan Northern Ireland. The business was first formed in 1988 and was known as McQuaid Engineering. Our main business was the fabrication and erecting portal frame buildings. In 2004 we developed an original idea of fabricating steel buildings from cold rolled steel. This has proved a great success for us as we continue to develop the product.
Our buildings are designed with you in mind. Metal garages can come with Roller doors, personnel access doors and windows to match your requirements. Your Steel Garage may be a Single Steel Garage. Double Steel Garage, Treble Steel Garage, or a much larger Metal/ Steel Building, you tell us exactly what it is you require the garage for and we will design it to your exact requirements in the most cost effective way possible
The advantages to the customer is obvious as galvanized steel will out last painted steel up to six times. Because the steel is high tensile it allows us to fabricate light weight structures of immense strength.
Sheds can be purchased in kit form for self erecting. We can customise to your specification no matter how diverse your requirements. All our buildings come complete with anti condensation cladding on roof. Gutters and down pipes as standard. Our emphases are on quality; our prices are highly competitive. Sheds can be manufactured to a large range of size and colours. The structure and cladding has a life expectancy of 25 years to first maintenance. If you require an
insulated building we use Kingspan insulated panels and translucents. Doors on insulated buildings can be insulated roller shutter doors. Electric motors and remote controls are easily added if required. Pedestrian doors can be PVC on insulated buildings with double glazed glass sections. We can also install a double glazed PVC framed window in our sheds if required.

Base Frame

The base frame for the shed is a 140mm deep galvanized steel channel used to form the floor slab. It protects the edges of the concrete from damp and provides a secure anchor for the structure. We include it with all our buildings. We can also work with an existing concrete base.

- A typical floor for a garage or shed generally consists or hardcore, chrushed stone blinding, DPM (damp proof membrane) and concrete. It is considered good practise to place reinforced steel mesh within the concrete as this will reduce the chances of the floor cracking
