Dumaguete needs our help & we need yours

Hello fellow friends, family, students, healthcare professionals and volunteers!
We are second year Nursing & Midwifery students who are heading off to Dumaguete in The phillipines in January 2015 to work voluntarily through a company called "Work the World". We will be working in a village Hospital in the areas of birthing/postnatal and acute medical/trauma areas. The situation, as with majority of developing countries is that these people have limited or no access to basic sterile medical equipment. Items such as needles/syringes for example; are in such short supply that health workers have no option but to re-use them several times, in order to treat their patients.
Our main goal is around much needed medical supplies to bring over with us. We are however, hoping to have a small amount left over in order to be able to fund the expenses of our neccessary immunisation and visa requirements.
DID YOU KNOW?
In the phillipines, mothers still die during childbirth. 5% of all births don't see children survive to their 1st birthday and 12% of all babies die at birth!
We're know theres many causes out there for people to donate too, but we're hoping that you can relate to this as a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, friend and reach out to help us make the difference were aiming to make!
