Indigenous Eye Health Coordinator

Applications close: 10 June 2024

The Primary objectives of the Indigenous Eye Health Coordinator are to provide expert management and service delivery of Eye Health Services in acute, primary and tertiary environments across NT Health. The position is a diverse role, ranging from travelling to remote Indigenous communities to provide high level of eye health care to patients and training for remote staff, through to department and procedural involvement that can impact how eye health is delivered. Working in this space provides unique insight into the barriers and successes of eye health care in rural and remote communities. The Indigenous Eye Health Coordinator will work with many different stakeholders, from primary health care providers, Optometrists, public Ophthalmology services, as well as working on Commonwealth funded grant programs. This is a great opportunity to develop clinical management and project management skills and implement strategies and programs to improve access to eye health care for rural and remote Indigenous patients. It is a NT Professional 3 (P3) position and because of the regional location the employers may consider less experience than normally required for a role of this level. Darwin itself is a great place to live, rich in nature and culture. With a tropical laid-back environment, plenty of outdoor activities, markets and festivals, it is a wonderful place to live and work.
