Hi, my name is Will Hore-Lacy, I'm from Melbourne, Australia. I've just completed a Civil Engineering degree at The University of Melbourne and in my day job I work as a "Transport Engineer" at ARRB Group.

Ok that's the boring part over, onto the photography!

I've been taking photos for years but these last few I've been working to turn it into a more professional hobby. At the moment I'm trying to build a portfolio and see if I can find a market but as always, work keeps getting in the way.

I first started taking photos in year 9 at Geelong Grammar Timbertop when I was given my first camera. Now this wasn't like any other year 9, in first and fourth terms we were hiking every weekend so of course I took lots of photos while trekking through the Victorian Alps. From there my love of mountains and photography grew and so did the money I spent on processing.

In December 2003 after much research and deliberation I bit the bullet and purchased a Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel), quite a step up from my compact 35mm, and I haven't stopped taking photos since. There was some hope that in going digital that I would save money in the long run but there are always plenty of things to spend money on. But that aside it has been great, I've taken photos just about everywhere I've been since; from Tassie wilderness to weekly volleyball matches as well as gigs and events.

While work does get in the way of taking photos it has enabled me to greatly expand my kit, currently my set up is:

  • Canon 30D
  • Canon 300D
  • Sigma 17-70mm
  • Canon 18-55mm
  • Canon 10-22mm (I love this lens!)
  • Sigma 50mm f2.8 Macro
  • Sigma 70-200mm f2.8
  • Canon 430EX Speedlight
  • Nikon SB-24 Speedlight
  • Nikon SB-22s Speedlight
  • Manfrotto 055PROB tripod with joystick head
  • Olympus lightweight tripod
  • Light stands, umbrellas and remote triggers
  • Polorising filter, shutter release, CF cards, ND filters, Grad ND filter, Batteries etc.

That's enough mindless rambling from me, I hope this to be an ever-growing site so please check back in the not too distant future.

Thanks for visiting

Will
