This walking tour in Tuscany starts with a transfer from Florence to Colle di Val d'Elsa. From our base in Colle your walk passes through the heart of medieval Tuscany, starting in the marvellous hill town itself and then exploring the region from the Val d'Elsa, through the Montagnola Senese to Pienza and Montepulciano before moving on to Chianti.

We make use of a mix of private mini-buses and some public transport to access the walks that take you into the heart of Tuscany. We take you through a range of landscapes with a passing parade of vineyards and olive groves that surround the picturesque towns of the region.

The aim is to give you easy access to the best walks in the region and to provide you with the reassurance that comes with travelling in a small, friendly group. We have paid close attention to the length and direction of each walk to ensure you get the best experience possible.

To the east of Siena some of the towns we explore include Colle di Val d'Elsa, the beautiful towered city of San Gimignano and the atmospheric fortress-village of Monteriggioni.

On a free day you might opt to take in Volterra or perhaps explore Siena itself. We also venture to the south west taking in the towns of Pienza, Montepulciano and the hot springs of Bagno Vignoni.

In the dramatic Chianti hills we visit the towns of Castelina in Chianti, Lamole, Greve, Volpaia and Radda in Chianti. On your free day the option of a day trip to Firenze (Florence) is less than an hour's bus trip away.

During the evenings Colle di Val d'Elsa hosts a range of restaurants that stretch from the humble but hearty to the refined dining of the Restaurant Arnolfo.

As a general rule we walk for around two hours in the morning before making a stop for lunch and perhaps a little shopping in the towns we visit. On many days we continue the walk in the afternoon and on others we linger to allow you time to enjoy the area.

All the walks are accesible to someone who is in general good health. Some of the hills can be steep and you should be able to carry a personal backpack containing your daily necessities such as water, trail snacks and perhaps a spray jacket or jumper.

On this walk the cost of the tour includes the services of a full time tour leader, all transportation, sightseeing, all breakfasts and five lunches and three dinners.
