By riding in this event and requesting donations we get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. 75% of the money raised through the ride stays in the community to fund local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. The remaining 25% supports groundbreaking breast cancer research. Together we can fuel the best science, boldest community and biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer. And I will not stop until this disease is gone forever."

Thanks to the inspired efforts of 150,000 Avon Walk participants, more than $440 million has been raised and donated to breast cancer programs since 2003. This support funds research to find a cure or prevention, as well as programs that enable all patients to access quality care. "As a breast cancer survivor this is a very important cause to me. I have walked numerous events for breast cancer, and other charity walks as well. The hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life was to sit my children down and explain breast cancer. The sponsor money is to important to me because as a mom I would love to see the day when no other mom would have to explain breast cancer to their children. I walk every event that I can to raise awareness."

" I am walking for daughters, sisters, mothers, sons, brothers, fathers and friends.

I am walking so that someday, no one will have to hear the words "You have breast cancer" spoken to them, as I heard them spoken to me a few years ago.

I am walking so that someday, no one will have to say the words " I have breast cancer" to their loved ones, as I have had to say to my loved ones.

I am walking so that someday, no one will have to say the words "She died from breast cancer" about a loved one. I thank God that this is one phrase I have not had to say in my lifetime, yet!

I was lucky, my breast cancer was caught very, very early – thanks to a very persistent nurse that pressured me into having a mammogram when the doctor said there was no need. I feel blessed to have had this luck, when others don't get that chance."

"I wasn't going to do the breast cancer walk this year because it was so hard to raise the money last year, among other reasons. But I realized that those "reasons" were just excuses. That I had given up without even trying, and anyone who knows me knows that I never give up. The walk is too important to me. It's a continuing part of my therapy, of my fight against breast cancer. The time that it hits home the most is during that walk, especially on the first morning when I proudly/humbly put on my "survivor" shirt. It reminds me that indeed, I am a survivor, that never ends – neither does the fight. I said that I would walk every year until I could no longer walk."

"We are all celebrating Life, and "Fighting" for our health. Setting a goal, striving towards it, and challenging ourselves daily, is "our part" and what we can do to help ourselves… I wish everyone the best in their personal fight for Health and Quality of Life. This is my 27 year reunion with "Bay to Breakers…" I will be wearing large "pink" arm bands with the Breast Cancer Logo and Streamers flying in the wind, and have designed my own T-shirt with "Fight for Breast Cancer" on the front, and "Shriner's Children's Hospital" on the back. The "Bay to Breakers" is a great platform to show support for your favorite non-profit charities, along with 55,000 fellow walkers, runners, and supporters."

Debbie has been on a journey like no other, since her darling daughter, Michelle, was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago.

To honor her daughter, who is now in remission, Debbie will be walking in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Syracuse, New York on May 19th, 2012. She and her daughter want to support women across America in this fight against breast cancer.

"New medicine and cures won't happen without financial support," said Debbie. "As strange as it may sound, this terrible disease has brought many wonderful people into my life."

Linda Rehfeld is a young woman on a mission to fight cancer! She is participating in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Seguin, Texas on April 28th and 29th. Linda, her family and her friends have all
been impacted by cancer. She has rallied a team of like-minded women called, "Cowgirls for a Cure," with the sole purpose of raising money to find a cure for cancer. They put on their pink chaps and pink sequin vests and ride their horses in parades to promote breast cancer awareness. Linda also organizes the "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" event at the PRCA Rodeo. Linda believes that if she helps even one person in the fight against cancer all of her efforts will be rewarded.

The Trail of Painted Ponies would like to thank Linda for all of her efforts to fight cancer and for her courage and compassion.
