TRANSITION FARM ORGANIC SEED
Quality 100% Certified Organic and Bio-dynamic NON-GMO Seed
Success in low input, organic plots begins with great seed!
Transition Farm is producing quality, 100% certified organic and bio-dynamic seed that thrives in low input growing conditions with resilient health and strong genetics. We breed for flavour, local adaptation, yield, beauty and disease resilience. Organically produced seed with vigour, in-built resilience and the desire to network and grow thrives in organic plots.
We are dedicated to the Australian Demeter Bio-dynamic method of farming - nurturing whole farm ecosystems and building and maintaining healthy soil. We believe plants grown in living soil, who's growth is guided by sunlight produce seeds capable of forming robust root systems. Resilience- to pests and disease, to less then ideal growing conditions, to climate stress - is a generational story held in a seed.
We are passionate about supporting and being part of a hearty network of growers developing and maintaining living soils, contributing to healthy communities and ensuring food sovereignty.
Shirley and Breadseed poppies are two of the easiest flowers to grow – provided your timing is correct. Autumn sowings provide larger, earlier blooms on strong, prolific plants. Beloved by bees with stunning colours and tissue paper like petals, poppies fill the gap between spring bulbs and warm weather flowers.
Larkspur are one of our favorite late spring/early summer spires. They are fantastic cut flowers with a long stem length and lasting for two weeks in a vase. We love them arranged by themselves or in combination pale foliage and lime green flowers, roses, peonies, bells of Ireland, poppies, celosia, zinnias. With an array of colours, they are quintessential cottage garden flowers and much sought after by floral designers.
Testimonials
“We have had fabulous success with Transition Farm’s vegetable, herb and flower seed. All varieties have been carefully trialled by Robin and Peter for suitability in our SE Australian climate and for superior growth and flavour. Their seed is 100% certified organic and biodynamically grown, harvested, dried and packed on Transition Farm. I can highly recommend their seed and respect their commitment to looking after their farm and the broader environment in the sustainable manner that they do.”

"We've never seen such happy seedlings as those we've raised using your seed - they display extreme vigour and keep on going when transplanted out - zero transplant shock being the most striking feature."

In Southern Victoria, April begins our sowing for next spring and summer. Garlic, broad beans and cool season annual flowers!
Hardy annuals either require cold stratification or simply germinate at cooler temperatures. Often the plants require a period of vernalisation, or cold, to flower prolifically. And they also cope better with, if not enjoy, cooler temperatures.
