What Does an HDMI Cable do and Does it Matter What You Pay

In order to make the correct purchase of an HMDI cable you must first understand what a HDMI cable does. HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface and in simple terms it provides you with high definition digital video and high definition digital audio in one simple cable.

It is the first and only industry-supported, uncompressed, all digital audio/video interface.

There is a reasonably well known debate about HDMI cables and whether or not more expensive cables produce a better signal than the cheaper cables. Of course it is the bigger, well known brands that are pushing this argument, trying to justify their absurd cable prices. The fact of the matter is, over short distances it just doesn't matter. You could put a $300 cable up against a $30 cable and you will be hard pressed to find someone who can spot the difference. The only things you really need to be aware of are the thickness of the cable and the quality of the fittings/connections.

So it doesn't matter what cable you get, right?

Well you could pick up a super cheap cable off an auction site if you wanted, but how trust worthy are they? What will the quality of the cable be like? If the cable doesn't work, can you return it? Do they guarantee it will do exactly what you want it to do?

Selby Acoustics not only has competitively priced cables but we guarantee you a cable that is of high quality and works. We guarantee that our Selby Acoustics range of HDMI cables are capable of 1080p resolution up to 20m. I have purchased a number of cables from Selby.
The cables are far better than what I was sucked into buying from Harvey Norman by the salesman. A quick check on the net and found Selby. Purchased the cables, installed them to my both HD TV's and the picture was brilliant. I live in the SW of WA and we are not suppose to receive digital TV until 2013, however the subdivision does provide a limited digital pickup and the HDMI cables give me a great reception.
Many thanks
