An understanding of the scope of services offered by Saffron Design can be clarified by reviewing the stages that occur with a new project.

Client Briefing: It is essential that a client's needs are clearly identified and understood and agreed prior to the commencement of a project.
Issues regarding timing and financial guidelines as well as functional and aesthetic outcomes are given strong focus and attention. Frequently the brief can be prepared by the Studio based on conversations and client directions that are held to clarify the expectations and assumptions of the requirements.

Budgets & Time Programming: A critical part of our assessment is to determine how much the project will cost and how long it will take to complete. Feasibility of the project is determined through analysis of the client's requirements. Following this is the preparation of preliminary sketch plans, a budget and an estimated time scale.

Design Development: The final space plan sets the guidelines for the development of the design, which in many cases involves the selection of furniture and equipment for the operation of the site.

Design Aesthetics: This stage is concerned with the selection of materials, products, final finishes and colour schemes. Colour boards are assembled and choices of furniture and equipment are made. Carpet selections are advised and customised carpets may be developed. Other elements include general flooring, lighting and signage, artwork and decoration.

Design Approval: Sketch plans, colour boards and samples of selected furniture and equipment are presented to the client, together with a final budget for each phase of the project.
Documentation: Working drawings for the complete project are prepared together with full written specifications for tender purposes. Recommendations submitted by consultants - structural, electrical, mechanical, fire services and communications are checked and coordinated.

Scheduling: A programme of work is established and co-coordinated with contractors and consultants. Schedules itemising all elements of the work are prepared.

Authority Approvals: All requisite statutory approvals, licenses and official consents can be obtained in conjunction with the client.

Tenders & Order Placements: Tenders and quotations are requested from contractors and suppliers which are received and analyzed. Recommendations are made to the client based on quality, cost and the ability to adhere to the delivery program. Upon agreement, contract documents are then prepared and orders placed.
Construction: Inspection and coordination of all phases of the fit out process are undertaken.

Administration: Control is exercised at all times in job programming and progressive payments made to suppliers. A thorough completion inspection is undertaken to ensure that all work is completed as specified.
