Where to Start

Who should you talk to? Who needs to be involved in important decisions? What questions should you be asking about aged care?

We can help you find the best place to start. Talk to us today.

Care needs

Everyone’s circumstances are unique. RELACS will help you find the care arrangements which best meet your care needs, whatever they might be.

Our service encompasses a very broad range of care needs, and is tailored to your health requirements. We will review any formal assessments (ACCR/Support Plan) that measure your current needs and anticipate how they are likely to vary in the future. It’s important for you to feel comfortable with your care arrangements, and to know that there is a plan in place for when circumstances change.

Living Options

Home is more than a place to live. When you’re looking at changing your living arrangements, we can help you assess the options and find the best fit for you. And when it’s time to move to your new home, we can help simplify the transition so you can focus on settling in.

Talk to us if you’re thinking about:

  • Staying in your own home
  • Building a new place to live (e.g. downsizing or granny flat)
  • Moving to new accommodation (e.g. a lifestyle village or residential care)

Managing money

This is a unique financial decision for everyone. What does it cost? Who pays? How do you pay?

Money worries can also create a lot of stress, and we see it as our job to take the uncertainty away so you can enjoy some peace of mind.

Ask us to help you figure out the practicalities and find the best financial fit for you. We can:

  •  Help you work out the best way to structure your finances
  •  Establish whether you qualify for assistance with funding, and how that will affect your aged care options
  •  Assess the different fee structures around care, accommodation and services
  • Explain the means and income testing processes

making decisions

Making the right choices in aged care isn’t always simple. Important decisions can be required from you unexpectedly and urgently, and it can seem like there’s too much pressure and not enough information to choose with certainty. Added to this is the potential conflict among families, where differing opinions and expectations may not always be in line with the care arrangements your loved one needs.

RELACS offers guidance around many of these important choices. We give you ‘insider knowledge’ so you can consider all of the angles before committing to a course of action. You’ll always know what comes next, who will be involved, and what to expect if circumstances change.

We can also put you in touch with a range of services and networks to help with the personal impact of what can be a difficult time, such as mediation, counselling and support groups.

staying together

Take the next step side-by-side with family, friends and carers.

When moving to a new home, it’s important to maintain connections to the people you care about. This may mean some changes to the way you stay in touch, depending on your living situation and care needs.

We can help you work out the best way to make sure the important people in your life can make the transition alongside you.
