  RDA Volunteers

Volunteers, without whom we cannot function, don't need any prior knowledge of horses, they are taught the necessary skills. A typical day begins with cleaning out the yards, feeding, grooming and saddling horses. When riders arrive a volunteer might assist the rider to prepare for class or may be asked to lead a horse or 'side walk' to assist the coach and develop the confidence of the rider. Another important part of the volunteers' duties is helping with games during the class.

We have approximately 60 volunteers per week, which includes 13 coaches to cater to over 100 riders. We hold classes in the mornings, on Tuesdays to Saturdays and we have a "Maintenance" team that works on Mondays. The Maintenance Team feeds and cleans out the paddocks and do any odd jobs such as lawns and fixing fences etc. We have a feeding roster for Sundays.

  RDA Coaches

Our coaches are all qualified RDA Coaches who are accredited with a RDANSW Coaching Qualification. They have skills in horsemanship, selection and training of horses, teaching, risk management& safety, disability awareness and first aid procedures. Coaches are assessed on competency on these subjects and are graded as Assistant Coach, Coach or Senior Coach. They must maintain their First Aid Qualifications to retain their coaching Accreditation.
