In China, cats and dogs are kept in appalling condition and then used for human consumption. Not only that, sometimes they are even ‘prepared’ whilst still alive, apparently to improve the taste.

Primarily, they recover Moon Bears from horrific bile farms and provide a safe environment for the last few years of their life. They educate local people and officials and are part of the drafting of laws to protect animals in the region.
They also use rescued dogs as embassadors under the name or Dr. Dog to visit people with special needs, children and others to try to change the culture and educate people on what a valuable resource being in the company of dogs is. They are also lobbying law changes for greyhound racing in the Phillipines.
