Petra Pacific Consulting has been established to provide risk, auditing, specialised training and advisory services to business, particularly the petroleum and transport sectors. David Machin is the Principal Consultant. Prior to commencing consultancy he was the Regional HSSE Manager, Queensland for the Marketing Group of Caltex Australia. He worked for Caltex for 12 years as the regional specialist providing risk, environmental and occupational health and safety advice across the marketing functions in the state. Prior to this he was Corporate Environmental Manager for Queensland Rail, as the culmination of several management roles. David initially qualified as an industrial chemist, with exposure to a wide range of analytical work related to industrial environments. His experience includes the provision of specialist training (safety and environmental subjects), development and implementation of procedures in integrated environmental and safety management systems, incident investigation and management, legislative compliance and licensing, contaminated site remediation and project management, rehabilitation coordination, security assessment and extensive compliance auditing of petroleum installations across manufacturing, service station, depot and terminal operations (bulk storage) as well as commercial facilities.
