Queensland Weather Situation
A large high in the Tasman Sea extends a firm ridge across the state. The high
will move eastward over the next day or two, weakening ridge. A weak trough
will move east across southeastern Australia on Wednesday and off the northern
New South Wales coast on Thursday. A new high will move east over the Great
Australian Bight during the latter part of this week and will reinforce a firm
ridge across the state. A weakening low-pressure system in the southern Coral
Sea will push away further east from Wednesday, easing the swells and winds
along the southern and central Queensland coast.
Southeast Coast Today
Sunny. Light winds. Daytime maximum temperatures in the low 20s.
Southeast Coast Tomorrow
Mostly sunny. Medium chance of showers along the coastal fringe, most likely in the afternoon and evening. Near zero chance of rain elsewhere. World Wide Lightning Location Network.
Weather satellite cloud imagery is originally processed by the
BOM from the geostationary satellite Himawari-8 operated by the
Japan Meteorological Agency. Real-time bushfire hotspots are provided by the
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and
NASA spacecraft.
The radar background image is actual true-colour imagery obtained over recent days by the MODIS satellites operated by
NASA.
