Coax Cable |

Coax CableCoax cable has certain characteristics that make it more suitable for certain applications. The picture to the right is RG58 Cellfoil, which is a low loss cable primarily used for external mobile phone aerials and in die-hard CB installation. As you can see it is double sheilded and has a solid centre conductor. The solid conductor and extra foil sheild minimise interferrence and transmission losses in low power systems, such as mobile phones. More expensive than the standard RG58, but makes up for it in performace. Standard RG58 comes without the foil sheild and has a stranded centre conductor, useful in CB installations as it is more resilient to movement than Cellfoil. Bumping around in the 4WD is no problems for this cable. RG213 is the big brother of RG58, still single sheild and stranded conductor, but lower loss than RG58 and Cellfoil. Useful in static sites where maximum transmission performance is required. |
