Americana, Hillbilly and Traditional Country Blues Performers.
Acoustic Union is a Collaboration of likeminded acoustic musicians lead by Ruffcut Anderson. This ensemble performs in various authentic 1920’s golden age and contempory musical styles, with a passion for good handmade music. Melodic tunes with a down on the farm feel.

Nationally renowned for her 20 year career in theatre, singer, songwriter and actor Angela Toohey s now shining the spotlight on her own music.  Angela has embraced the power and joy of sharing her songs with those generous enough to listen. Her music is inspiring, uplifting, fun, honest, hookey, energy-packed and edgy.

Beginners’ Tune Sessions

Ian Dixon cranks up the accordian to run the Beginners’ Tune Sessions on both Saturday and Sunday.  Bring your instruments and learn some new tunes in a relaxed and supportive environment, then take your new skills to the campfire at night.

Body and Song with Marina Hurley and Jenny Fitzgibbon

Join Marina Hurley and Jenny Fitzgibbon for some body percussion and singing.  Learn rhythm skills using your body as your instrument and for those up for an extra challenge you can learn a new song at the same time. Suitable for beginners, singers who don’t play an instrument and for musicians who want to improve their ability to play cross-rhythms.

Danny Widdicombe has been a steadfast feature of the Brisbane music scene for some years. Urban cowboy, guitar based bluesy electric folk with the odd bossa nova beat. With feeling.

 

Daylight Moon

Daylight Moon offer a classy mix of interpretations and originals: songs of shadow and delight. Their sets include passionate love songs, light-hearted commentary and heartfelt drama, with jazz, folk and pop flavours.

Dogwatch

Dogwatch is brother-sister duo, Luan and Andrea Baldwin, fulfilling a twenty-year dream of playing and performing together. Disparate songwriting styles are united by a love of storytelling and an obsession with the way work – particularly work on ships and the sea – interacts with personal identity. With songs ranging from edgy blues to anthem rock to humorous folk, Dogwatch presents a warm, lively, thought-provoking set, chock-full of memorable melodies and lines that linger.

These veterans of the south-east Queensland folk scene occasionally get out of bed to get together and make music that sings. Their blend of original and cover material visits folk, jazz and country in gorgeous harmony and music.

Fingerstyle guitarist and singer/songwriter, Gary Shepherd performs a wide range of instrumental and vocal/guitar music, interspersed with wit and storytelling. Producer of popular guitar instructional DVDs that that have sold in the thousands around the world, Gary is a performer not to be missed.

Gospel Singalong

Sister Anne and Sister Mary have been saving Neurum Creek sinners since 2008 but it seems each year there are more needing rescue. So come to the meeting early Sunday morning – it’s never too early to be saved – and once again they’ll do their best to banish ol’ Satan from the valley.

The Kelly Family band play Australian family folk music with Celtic and American influences. They have just returned from a recent concert & busking tour of Europe where they took on Prague, Liepzig, Berlin, Poland, Paris, Alsace, Milan, Provence, and Ireland to name a few, phew !
Family bands are one of life’s super special creations and the Kelly family band are such an organism. Three kids and two adults all with happy demeanours make their Irish sound with joy, love, tensions and all the ups and downs that come with family life.

From the deep south of The Redlands Juju and Chuck E (Stockade) travel the crossroads where blues and jazz meet folk.  Chuck’s substantial guitar skills and Juju’s smouldering vocals with a dash of ukulele and cross sucking harmonica. Originals, obscure gems and their own fresh take on one or two standards.

Singer/ songwriter Wayne Tritton has turned his hand to varied styles over the course of his musical journey, from power-pop to country, blues and beyond, settling on a quirky acoustic blend of all of them. His songs reflect his many influences, and run the gamut from achingly haunting ballads to smile-inducing, toe-tapping, feel good country pop.

Marcus Holden is possibly the most recorded fiddle player in Australia, his work heard on releases by a hugely diverse range of musicians, from the rock elite to folk luminaries. A founding member of folk festival favourites Fiddlers Festival, he also established the Australian Golden Fiddle Awards.

The world’s funniest male, long-haired, Victorian, piscean folk singer, Martin is a very funny satirical performer. He has been amusing, even thrilling audiences around the globe for ages now, and if you haven’t seen him live – you’re missing out.  Martin has an ability to take current events and observations of everyday life, and turn them into side splitting comedy routines.

Yoga makes happy campers….join Lisa Johnson and Cheng Teo for a fun and friendly interactive yoga session. All ages and abilities encouraged to attend. We will playfully explore a few yoga exercises in pair as well as finish with an easy shoulder massage.

Alex Bridge on bass and harmony vocals and Wendy Hodgins on piano fill it to overflowing with tasteful delights that enhance the emotional flavour of the songs. OutOut of Abingdon

Out of Abingdon is an act whose full bodied sound belies their duo status. With guitar, double bass and both male and female vocals, theirs is a jazzy, bluesy, groovy acoustic and genuinely different take on some classic repertoire from a broad range of genres. Their original songs have been described as ranging from whimsical to funky, articulate and involving. Balanced, mellow, passionate and soulful, their enthusiasm is infectious – a sonic treat!

 

PBB2Penny’s Boy Band

Penny’s Boy Band is a collaboration between members from two very different local Brisbane bands, The Poachers and Tulca Mor. Some tunes, some songs, and then probably a few more tunes. Penny Boys will sing some of the traditional Irish songs that started her folk career at the sessions in Berkeley California, only this time with backing from some exceptionally fine Irish musicians: Andrew Heath, Fred Graham and Kevin Higgins.

These two young lasses weave sounds from the strings of their various instruments to create music that will enchant you. Sourcing their sounds from the smallest cultural pockets of the world like Estonia, or the world’s Celtic music hub of Ireland and Scotland, since completing their EP Five for the Road, Rhiannon and Monique have won the 2013 Golden Fiddle Youth Achievement Award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Anne Infante and Mary Brettell sing anything from traditional folk to country, originals, contemporary material – and everything in between. 3 Miles From Texas were formed driven by the desire to create music sharing an emotional and cultural resonance with their audience. Performing original songs, covering topics as diverse as teenage angst, cricket, the beach, refugees and the endless intrigue of love; with a touch of the blues, some folk/country ingredients, a smattering of Tex-Mex, a little roots, and a lot of heart. Based in Brisbane, it’s the Texas on the Queensland border that gave them their name.

WIDwomen in docs

women in docs (Chanel Lucas and Roz Pappalardo) are renowned for their raw, exciting, upbeat sounds, well-considered (and often humorous) lyrics, crisp, acoustic guitar and soaring harmonies. The act gather large, loyal crowds wherever they play. Their music is reminiscent of the Indigo Girls and the Waifs, with a little bit of Dixie Chicks thrown in.
