What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural, altered state of consciousness which we all slip into and out of every day (e.g. driving, where your conscious mind is thinking about something else and your unconscious mind is driving the car).

Hypnosis in therapy allows unconscious processes to be made conscious and resolved as well as new positive transformative processes (e.g. positive suggestions) to be put in place.

Hypnosis is a natural, relaxed and focused state of attention distinguished by:

  • Feelings of well being

  • Increased muscle relaxation

  • Predominating alpha brain waves

  • Deeper understanding of ideas

  • A heightened sense of awareness; taste, smell, hearing

Our subconscious mind plays an important role in shaping our response to pain, sickness, anxiety, worry, panic, stress and depression.

Mind body therapies like hypnosis, guided imagery and meditation are a mechanism for influential communication, which can be used to focus the mind’s inner unconscious resources to activate or inhibit psychological or physiological responses.

Creating a mind-body connection through the process of enhanced hypnotherapy is a refreshing and relaxing experience.

Many patients report feeling invigorated, recharged and ready to tackle the challenge of building their new lives.

Life Vision Counselling uses an exciting technique in the field of mind-body medicine, which may help you stop smoking, manage stress or anxiety, reduce your levels of pain or depression and improve your emotional health and wellbeing.

Hypnotherapy - mind & body

Hypnotherapy is a method that uses the latest in relaxation based on the emerging science of mind-body medicine.

This field recognizes that for Australians to successfully regain control of their lives, both the mind and body must work as a team.

So, if you would like to:

  • Reduce the symptoms of stress, pain, anxiety, depression or other health problems and reduce the need for medication and huge financial costs

  • Feel happier and more content in your important relationships

  • Find a way to break those addictive habits or better manage your anger

  • Or if you feel that you have lost your way and can’t seem to find direction in your life, then Hypnotherapy may be of benefit for you.

How does Hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy works with your conscious and subconscious mind to develop new neurological pathways.  These help reprogram your thinking, so that instead of just taking care of the symptoms, you learn to change those predictable habits and behaviours.

When you adjust the way you think, you approach situations in a completely different way and so you correct your behavior.  This helps you take control of your life.

The entire journey is supported by Counselling because we know that we need to help you discover and resolve the issues that initially caused you to feel anxious, stressed or depressed.

Working through these issues can reduce symptoms such as comfort eating, smoking and other addictions so you finally get a great night’s sleep.

Through learning new life skills and strengthening them in conjunction with Hypnotherapy, you resolve your problems and your self esteem will lift.  This will improve your relationships with your family, friends and colleagues.

By combining Hypnoherapy with Counselling, you choose a painless and non-medication alternative to help you make new changes to the way you think and react to situations in your life.  The effect of this is that you will achieve your goals and enhance your inner health and wellbeing.
