Dr Keith Hartman graduated from the University of Sydney in 1971.

He spent 9 years undertaking postgraduate and specialist study and training in Sydney and Oxford, England.

In 1980 he commenced specialist practice in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Sydney. For over 30 years, he has cared for women in both public and private hospitals in all areas of pregnancy care and womens’ reproductive health. He has earned a reputation for providing very personal, compassionate care, matched with the skill and judgement which comes only with extensive experience.

Dr Hartman believes strongly that pregnancy and birth are normal processes, and a highlight of any woman’s life. Dr Hartman views his care of a woman during her pregnancy as a very special professional partnership based on mutual respect and trust. Each woman’s own preferences are discussed and taken into account but clearly a safe outcome for mother and baby must always be the primary aim. Dr Hartman has delivered over 9000 babies, many to women whose pregnancies were at considerable risk due to their other medical conditions, infertility, previous miscarriages or age.

Dr Hartman also has a busy practice in general gynaecology and is a highly skilled and experienced vaginal and abdominal surgeon. He provides routine check-ups, and also manages abnormal Pap smears, menstrual problems, infertility, benign pelvic tumours, incontinence and vaginal prolapse.

Dr Hartman has a long standing commitment to teaching medical students and trainee specialists. For over 20 years he has been involved in teaching students from Sydney University and in 2009 was honoured to be awarded the Teaching Award in Womens Health at the Northern Clinical School. Further, Dr Hartman has recently commenced teaching medical students from The University of Notre Dame, Sydney. 

Dr Hartman is married. He has six children and six grandchildren. 

In 2012 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).
