Lake Leslie

Lake Leslie provides some fantastic bouldering on some of the cleanest Granite in the Granite Belt. There would probably be up to 100 problems in the area, with much of the bouldering concentrated around the dam itself. This provides some fantastic days out in a beautiful setting bouldering on good granite on the edge of the lake. However, the bouldering here does rely on the lake level remaining low for many of the problems. If the water level gets much above 50% many of the problems will be under water. It is also worth noting, that much of the bouldering is out in the open, so this is very much a winter area as it gets scorching hot in summer.

Directions

From Warwick, head to Inglewood and Goondwoondi. Approximately 10 minutes out of Warwick take a left turn to Lake Leslie (the turnoff is signed). Drive for approximately another 10 minutes to hit the dam. Most of the bouldering we have done is marked on the map. Basically, take a right turn and cross the creek underneath the dam. Follow the road until you get to the lookout at the dam wall. From the car park head down and right to the field of easily visible white boulders down on the waters edge. There is also many other problems in the bush surrounding the dam, and on the other side of the dam wall.

Camping

There is also nice camping at the Warwick Shire run camp ground at the top end of the dam. The campground has toilets, showers, wood for fires and a great view of the dam. Please make sure to pay for camping before pitching your tent. The only negative of the camping is that the campground can sometimes be infested with water skiing hoons.

The Problems

Get ready to go hard and high. This area contains a fantastic amount of full length quality boulder problems that will provide many high cruxes that will test your resolve. The majority of the problems are an easy walk from the lookout at the eastern side of the dam wall. A bit of exploration and good eye for spotting problems may be necessary. However, there should be plenty to keep most people occupied for a few days.

The difficulty of problems varies considerably in this area providing great climbing for novices and experts alike. There climbing tends to be slabby, verticle or slightly overhung. Usually, the steaper the climbing, the harder the route.
