Welcome to My Miniature Market.

Let me introduce you too a few of the miniature polymer clay character dolls who inhabit the market
.

Dr. Barker

The Miniature Market was started in 2000 when I began making polymer clay dolls in 1/12 scale [ 1 inch is equal to 1 foot ].

I was very surprised to discover that I could make these tiny dolls and just couldn't stop creating them. I decided that these dolls needed to have somewhere live so I decided to begin a new long term project. I began creating a miniature market.

The Miniature Market is set at Christmas Time in the Victorian Era

The dolls are all hand sculpted from polymer clay, I don't use molds so each little character is unique. I just love seeing their little faces emerge from the clay when I am sculpting them. Most of the products on the stalls are also made from polymer clay. The stalls themselves are made from any wood I could get my hands on for free. I use the wood from tangerine crates a lot because they are free.

I costume the dolls with real fabrics, I prefer old well worn fabrics as they drape better than new material. Finding enough different fabrics was a challenge, I spent a lot of time in second hand stores. There are 40 dolls in the market and each one is wearing at least three fabrics. I didn't want to use the same fabric twice, so you can see that I needed a lot.
