CHOOSING YOUR
    FIRST FLUTE

Small players may need to consider a curved headjoint or even a year on a fife or G flute before the stretch to a full size flute. Beginning on the straight flute too early can make holding the flute difficut, progress slow and dissapointing and cause physical strain to the neck, arms and back

Curved headjoints are an effective way to solve these problems. We are happy to help your young player find the best solution for beginning their flute playing

We have seen, played, dismantled, every brand of flute you have heard of.. plus more!
Using our knowledge as flute makers and repairers we have narrowed down to the brands that offer the best value for money with a variety of timbre:

The best priceis certainly an important consideration but the first flute must be more than simply cheap if it is to encourage the player to continue and develop.

Poorly made flutes are difficult to play

unreliable, expensive ( if not impossible) to maintain and have a zero resale value.
Spend that little bit more and the new musician has a fighting chance. Development is quicker. The flute is stronger and can withstand the rigours of weekly band practise and when it comes time to trade in or sell the instrument you can expect a

Significantly higher amount of money back!
