Not so much on Parsons.

 

Pat must be allergic to rebounds.

He may be a bench player but he's already a solid defender, rebounder, passer, and ballhandler.

I could see his shot improving.

2Pat is basically just a smart player who is extremely limited. Can't rebound, block shots, or shoot very well. Very replaceable.

What are you talking about????..... Last night Parsons was keeping them in the game last night, and Patterson has been solid (not great) and very good defensively all season long.

Those guys are going to put up pedestrian numbers if the overall offense is stagnant which it has been. Its just going to take time for the offense to find its grove. And Im not talking 3 games... Im talking 20 games. If you have ever played the game of basketball before you should know how chemistry works, and how long it takes to build that.

AND ITS NOT AFTER 5 GAMES.

Patterson and Parsons are solid players, but not superstars. Not sure why you would think that to begin with. If there is a deal out there to move either player for an all star player or a great draft pick, do you really not think Morey wouldn't move them in a heartbeat?

 

PPat is more expendable as well. We still have a load of PF's on our bench.

 

Truth be told, I would move both just for 1st rd picks alone.

 

No give it more time I think. Right now I am leaning more towards Parsons over Patterson though. If I had to move one of the two it would definitely be Patt. He annoys me with his not getting rebounds & not setting picks properly & not coming to set a screen when the guard asks.

 

-Patrick is a hell of a team defender, because of this, it's going to be hard for McHale to let go of him, too bad his one on one defense is not up to par.

-Once, a good poster got ridiculed for calling him a back seat kind of player, now it looks like he was more right than wrong. Patrick may have a couple of new moves, but it doesn't seem like he has the confidence or killer instinct to score when he's open, to become a good finisher.

-When he got drafted, Morey was proud of the fact that Patrick had the same measurements as All Horford coming out of college, but Patrick plays like he is 3 inches shorter, there's no lift in his game.

 

Never have liked Patterson. Very methodical in his moves and really not all that athletic. Pretty sure he'll get packaged with Delfino in a trade at some point this year.

 

Not all starting players need to be star players. I think Parsons is a good starting player on a team that has a couple of star players in the lineup. If Parsons can develop a consistent 3pt shot, and I think he can, then he would be a very solid starting small forward. But right now we are lacking another star player in the starting lineup, so I think Parsons is trying to do too much at times. If we had a star at the Power Forward position then Parsons would be a perfect fit I believe.

Patterson is not and never will be a stating caliber Power Forward in this league. Patterson is a backup that should be getting 12-15 minutes a game off the bench. Patterson can play some defense and on some nights can knock down a few jumpers and get a few garbage points, but without the ability to produce from the low post he is not a good fit for this team. Patterson would do much better playing with a team that has a dominant Center that can score.

 

I can't say I'm a Patterson fan. Attempts to turn him into a stretch 4 / midrange player have netted mixed results, and he's not nearly as quick and explosive as you'd want a starting power forward to be, either. In today's league, you have to have either legitimate length at the 4, or else above average athleticism to compensate for the lack of length. It's just the way it is now, at one of the most stacked positions in the league. If you are just a random 6'9" dude who sits right on the mean, you are going to get sonned. And that's Patrick Patterson. If you look up "average" in the dictionary, there's a picture of Patterson shooting a 15 foot jumper.

It's probable he's being given some burn to inflate his trade value.

 

I could see that as well. Something like a #1 pick and expiring contact to a playoff contender for both Delfino and PAtterson. Make no mistake Morey is looking for 1 more BIG pickup this offseason. After the Harden deal they are deprived of assets, now they have the cap space but for the type of players I think Morey will be after it will require a trade.

I wonder what our lottery pick, another #1, DMo/Parsons/Jones, and cap space nets the Rockets come offseason?

 

I think Parsons is just slumping, and has alot more upside than PPat, who looks like he's about to plateau. Both of them will make a great 2nd unit once Morey fills in the holes

 

Royce will be a better 3 than Parsons. It's just a matter of getting him up to speed.

 

Pat is our best defender at the 4 spot, that's where it ends. His rebounding efficiency is declining, he's shooting poorly, he still has no post game; I really havent noticed much improvement from last year. He's a role player, plain and simple. He's a 16 minute per game player off the bench, nothing more. Very frustrated. Play the rookies.
