Hi, i have a BMW E61 2008 and i bought this car 2 years ago.

I recently took out the warranty from car protect as i had a call from them earlier this year and they sounded pretty good (:|)

I specifically asked them if they covered air suspension and the lad their said he does, so i took his name and details of the call down i.e. time, date and caller.

A few days ago my air suspension pump has failed and i have got it diagnosed from bmw.

I called Car protect and they said they dont cover the air suspension pump!

i had a right go at them saying that the car has only air suspension and no other type, therefore it should be classed as suspension and be fixed under that!

They disagreed and so i will be calling trading standards as they claims to cover suspension but my car has air suspension

so they have mis-sold me the policy and i should get it fixed or have my premiums returned!

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Trading standards will have no interest in this whatsoever. You will find it a very frustrating experience.

If the value of the suspension repair is less than £5k then you could consider bringing a small claim to enforce the policy.

If you feel you have sufficient proof that that the cover was sold to you on that basis then you could enforce it in court. I expect that the insurer would back down.

However, by not recording your phone call, you make things more difficult for yourself.

Why will trading standards have no interest in this? Car protect sold me warranty that when they cold-called me saying they covered air-suspenion. So surely they must at least help you???

Also yeah it will cost no more than £1000 to fix from BMW themselves and lower at other BMW specialists etc. I may be able to take them to small claims on the basis that they have recorded their calls on the day the cold-call was made.

I honestly cant believe this! i am pay ing £25 a month for something useless and i could have paid £31 from warrantywise and i would have been covered for air-suspenion. I also see someone else on the forum has problem with car protect!

Can you prove the bit about the question regarding air suspension? I recently had a run in with a car warranty company that wanted a recurring payment off my debit card. Alarm bells rang and after investigation I decided not to go ahead as a Google revealed hundreds of complaints regarding car warranty companies and them not paying out.

There were instances were you had to pay for the repair upfront and then reclaim only to find out that your claim was rejected for some frivolous reason. Not many people can lay their hands on £200 for a repair never mind £2000 especially when they were under the impression that the car warranty company would sort it out and pay for the broken part!
