China Construction Oceania Pty Ltd – North East Link
Victoria, Australia
Using advanced 3D road design tools, CEA provided an optimised, specialist design for temporary ramps, minimising costs and providing a larger footprint for TBM crews. We also designed excavation flitches to align works with a rock bolting operation, reducing the risk of work fronts becoming disconnected.
BMD – Woolgoolga to Balina
New South Wales, Australia
Using Magnet, our team completed current and forensic mass hauls. The current mass hauls optimised the team’s materials use, while the forensic analysis allowed them to understand the impact of design changes and program adjustments. This also enabled identifying and quantifying issues for variations.
Neil Earthmoving – Cut back assessment
New South Wales, Australia
Our client needed to understand the available working area on each flitch during a major cutback. Using Autodesk’s Civil 3D, we created a map of each flitch to support a spaceproofing exercise. What might typically have taken days to assess was completed in a single afternoon, including reviewing fleet options.
MMG – Dugald River Mine
Queensland, Australia
CEA designed a new road and pipeline route for the site’s mine tailings. Using Autodesk’s Civil 3D software, we successfully avoided heritage sites while maintaining the required road geometry. Our team also provided inspection services during construction, including completing red-line markups.
CPB Contractors – Inland Rail PPP
Queensland, Australia
On this multi-billion-dollar project, CEA provided specialist advice for the team’s mass hauls and temporary access roads. We successfully designed roads able to accommodate bulk haulage, and the delivery of oversized bridge beams and other concrete elements, without over-capitalising construction costs.
John Holland – Kidston Pumped Hydro

CEA completed mass hauls for various design options, allowing our client to best understand the impacts of each option and improve decision-making. Our engagement was then extended to include calculating volumes and surface areas to better enable the program team to accurately forecast works.
CPB Contractors –Cooroy to Curra Package 2

CEA delivered a base mass haul for the project team, as well as multiple sub-iterations to understand ‘what if’ scenarios. Our client was better able to define the implications of various risks and opportunities to refine methods and achieve cost savings while maintaining the asset owner’s haul constraints.
Office of the Coroner (NT) – Incident review
Northern Territory, Australia
Our forensic crash investigation specialists provided expert advice to the Coroner regarding the management of dust and signage on road construction sites. The resulting report identified potential departures from best practice and key solutions to prevent future fatalities and other safety risks.
MMG – Las Bambas Mine
Peru
CEA provided an integrated haul road solution for the Las Bambas mine. We developed a haul road management system based on quantitative data instead of the empirical methods used previously. With approx 18km of primary haul roads supporting CAT797 units, the work was critical to ongoing profitability.
CPB Contractors HEB JV – Transmission Gully
New Zealand
CEA independently reviewed the proposed mass haul and bulk earthworks construction techniques. The project required excavating and placing 8 million cubic meters of fill, largely in very steep terrain. We optimised the mass haul and refined construction processes, with our team retained for ongoing advice.
BTR – Wetar Copper Mine
Indonesia
CEA was contracted to supply construction management services along with contract management advice. We supervised the direct BTR workforce and oversaw the EPCM contractor. Our team was pivotal in developing management systems and construction programs that varied from Level 2 to Level 5.
CMA – Baal Bone

On this mine rehabilitation project, CEA designed all temporary roads and pads. Using our team’s expertise, the contractor and mine owner were assured that all necessary haul road standards were accounted for while achieving a cost-effective design and infrastructure able to support desired production rates.
