How we got on the Web . . .

At this date (May 2004), there have been two reunions of the Bruer family, both held in Adelaide.

At both reunions a large hand-written version of the family tree, prepared primarily and painstakingly by Sally Madden (see Olive Daisie), assisted by Marcus Bruer (see Claude), was displayed.

At the second reunion in 2003 it was proposed (and soundly supported) that the tree should be put on the Internet to make it more accessible. It was thought that such a site could also present stories and photographs about the people who have created and are creating the greater history of the Bruer family.

An informal committee of three was self-created to get things going. Highly informal meetings were held irregularly at the Hackney Hotel, Adelaide, with Sally Madden at the head, supported by Marcus Bruer and Paul Bruer (see Vernon) and anyone they could drag along for a drink, a meal and a happy chat.
