Rot Repair Method

BWR is fully OH&S compliant; we carry all the relevant insurances, use quality dust free equipment and ensure a neat and clean work site.

Our rot repair method has been developed over many years and consists of the below stages.

Paint Stripping

Paint is removed from all rot affected and vulnerable areas to expose the full extent of rot damage.

Cutting Out of the Rot

The rot is removed if needed or if the rot damage is extreme the entire timber section is removed.

Anti Rot Treatment

The multi-primer is applied with a brush or syringes to all damaged and vulnerable timbers. This strengthens and rot proofs the timber.

Joining New Timber

For timber sections that have been removed new matching sections are machined and fitted. Specialized jointing techniques that allow for natural timber movement are critical to stable and durable joints. In some cases a treated and under coated marine timber veneer maybe used to encapsulate some timber sections.

Glazing Bead and Putty

All loose and missing putty is replaced or glazing bead fitted.

Caulking and Under Coating

Flexible caulking is applied to all timber joints and small gaps that could potentially open up due to timber expansion or contraction. A quality sealer / undercoat is now applied to all repaired surfaces.

Window Restoration Completed

The window is now restored. Standard paint preparation and two top coats should be applied within three weeks.
