BAS agent laws
By law, anybody who provides BAS services for a fee must be registered with the Tax Practitioners Board and abide by the Tax Agents Services Act 2009. (To find out what constitutes a "BAS service", read the TPB's guide. It's pretty much everything and anything to do with bookkeeping.) |
A registered BAS agent must meet the following criteria:
- be a “fit and proper person”
- have at least Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping or Accounting)
- have a specified amount of relevant experience
- follow a Code of Professional Conduct.
It is also recommended that they:
- be a member of a recognised professional association
- hold professional indemnity insurance
- maintain their professional knowledge and skills through ongoing professional development.
Bonza Bookkeeping is happy to advise that we are compliant with this legislation.
Bonza Bookkeeping is a registered BAS agent (No. 25548401), and a member of the Australian Bookkeepers Network.
