Very funny! BUT importantly I recall there was also a version of the ads where its was Norda Melbourne and Footisgray! No idea where the store was in North Melbourne though? Perhaps it predated the Brunswickee store?

Yep - Victoria Street North Melbourne and Footscray. Thus North Vs Doggies games were always known as the Franco Cozzo Cup.
 
I don't have many memories from back in Grade 2 (it was 1979 after all) but I distinctly remember this joke:

Q. What did Franco Cozzo say when he was in Sydney and stood in a bucket of grey paint?

A. Not in Melbourne and Foot is grey
