Is it safe? Yes.
As both a
registered acupuncturist in Victoria and a member of ANTA, Samantha observes a strict code of safe practice which governs the standard of care and level of conduct. Samantha has completed lengthy and comprehensive training in Chinese and Western medicine and continues her professional development with seminars and study groups.

Are the needles sterile? Yes.
All needles are sterile, high quality, single-use disposable needles. They are much thinner than the needles used for injections and they are also solid with a tapered tip resulting in a smoother, more gentle insertion.

What does it feel like?
Acupuncture should not be a painful or unpleasant experience. Patients often feel a tingling sensation or a dull ache around the needle and this is an indication that it is working as it should. Many patients feel relaxed during treatment, some even fall asleep!

Do I need a doctor’s referral? No.
Come along if you feel acupuncture could help you.

Should I stop taking my medications for acupuncture to work? No.
You should never come off medications unless under strict supervision from your doctor. Acupuncture can work in conjunction with Western medicine and often helps with the side-effects of medication.

Why acupuncture?
The benefits of acupuncture frequently include more than just relief from pain or a particular condition. As acupuncture is holistic, often patients find that other health issues benefit from treatment. Many people experience positive ‘side-effects’ such as increased energy levels, as well as better appetite and sleep, and an enhanced sense of overall well-being.

How often will I need acupuncture?
Everyone is different, but with 4-6 weekly treatments, you should see steady improvement in your health. After that you can decide how often you want to have treatment to maintain improved health. Many patients look forward to their monthly/seasonal top-up treatments.

Generally speaking the more chronic the condition, the longer it will take to rebalance your body in order that healing can take place, however improvements would be expected within 2 or 3 treatments. During every treatment session Samantha will review your progress with you and carefully monitor your treatment to ensure that it matches your needs.

Can I use my private health insurance with you?
Yes, Samantha is a provider with many major healthcare funds, including:
Australian Unity Health, Bupa, Defence Health, GMHBA, GU Health, HBF, Medibank Private, NIB as well as many more. Please ask for details.
