How do I monitor DNS propagation?

Hi I changed hosts but the DNS propagation seem to be a very slow process, I thought this usually should only last about 1 or 2 days? Is it possible to monitor or test the DNS propagation process around the world to see if there are any problems?

I'm no expert in this, but I sometimes use Alertra (free) to check if a website can be pinged from various locations in the world (Europe, Asia, United States etc.). I had a wrong DNS Zone file a while ago for a domain, wrong NS settings, and the DNS could not be resolved randomly.

Hope this helps, keep in mind, I'm no expert!
