Code of Conduct for Australian Hunting Net Forums

The popularity of our forums have necessitated a list of rules that all contributors to these forums must adhere to. These rules are to ensure that people participating in these forums are treated with respect and enjoy a positive experience. The rules are incontestable. People found in violation of this code may have their names removed from the database. Second offenders may be unable to make future contributions or visits.

There are a number of staff who monitor this forum. While we strive for fairness and objectivity, editing is a subjective process that is not perfect - and may seem inconsistent from editor to editor. We simply can not catch every violation of our rules with the many posts made each day. For this reason, we ask that you assist us by reporting violators to our policy to the admin. Posts that are visible do not necessarily mean that they have been reviewed by our editors and meet our criteria for acceptance.

The information on this system does not necessarily reflect the views of Australian Hunting Net or our staff. We make no assertions to their credibility, truthfulness, or accuracy. All posts are the responsibility of the person who inputted them on our forums as stated in their registration and posting agreement.

The staff of The Australian Hunting Net site reserve the right to remove any post, topic, or person for any reason we see fit, without notification or explanation.

1. No Threatening, harassing comments or remarks.

Language:
As most members are adults it is common to use certain words to portray your feelings, this of course includes some colourful language at times. We certainly make no apologies for the fact that we are normal human beings and for the most part talk freely as we would sitting around a camp fire. Certain posts and threads will offend some people, if that is the case, please do as you would with your TV at home and change the channel. Certain words are censored out, please do not try to circumvent those filters or your posts will be deleted.

2. No discussion, or challenge, to our editing policy are allowed within the conferences.
If you disagree, or want clarification as to why a particular topic, post, or person was removed, you are required to e-mail the admin
. We will not respond to any inquiries or challenges on our public forums however we may respond to e-mail inquiries.

3. No topics and/or statements which could be used to reflect poorly on hunting or fishing.
Since the Australian Hunting Net site is visited frequently by anti-hunting organizations and non-hunting individuals, we feel it is necessary to remove those topics or statements which could be used against us, or tarnish our image. While the contributors original intent (e.g. an example of "what not to do") may be good-intentioned, if it can assist in presenting poor image to the media for our sport it will be removed. Any post containing illegal activities or suggestions will also be removed.

4. No Advertising.
This includes both commercial, non profit, and classified ads. We have programs available for organizations, commercial businesses, and an extensive auction/classified ad section. Sponsors of the Australian Hunting Net and our related sites are granted permission to advertise their goods and services on our conferences.
An ad is defined as any post, topic, or blatant attempt to solicit business. An individual may respond, however, to a question on how to contact a business along with responses to inquiries on products or services. Suspicious contributions will be removed at the staffs' discretion.

A new classifieds section will soon be added and the old one becomes read only until item are sold or moved onto the new system. If you want to sell something, it will cost you $35 per year, that allows you to sell anything legal for 12 months. Anyone who has donated to the running costs of AHN are exempt from this fee, that will continue to be the case moving forward, if you donate $35 or more to AHN you will be given full access to the classifieds as well as any other Contributor advantages.  If you want to buy stuff only, it remains free, if you only want to browse the classifieds, it remains free. There will be no option to make senseless babbling comments to sale posts Anyone found trying to circumvent this will lose all access to the classifieds, this includes trying to sell stuff via PM.

Absolutely no domain names for screen names. No commercial web sites in signatures.
No posts as: "Here on my site", or "visit here for more information" when that site is your site. Bring the information to AHN, not the other way around.
Dubious contributions of the above ilk will be removed.

5. Contributors who are argumentative, intolerant, confrontational, and lack respect for others will be removed.
While debate is often healthy, habitual debaters and people who seek confrontation will be removed and potentially blocked from making future contributions. This is necessary to ensure a positive experience for the great majority of our visitors.
From now on warnings will be given to anyone posting childish dribble, underhanded or deceitful comments aimed at *any* individual, or by a group in order to put another member down etc.

As of today, the 3rd April 2021, every single member on AHN is now on equal footing, anything said or done in the past is gone, any previous warnings are gone, no favours or lenience will shown to anyone, period.

New warning system is now in place, all warnings from now on mute you right away.

1st offence - 2 points, lasts for 24 hours. Should also be good for those that tend to come on Fri, Sat night pissed.
2nd offence - 6 points, lasts for 72 hours.
3rd offence - 28 points, lasts for 14 days.
4th offence - 100 points, lasts until one of the admin's comes on to ban the account permanently, username added to Banned group which is visible to everyone, rather than deleting the account which will cause major issues with many threads. There will be no exceptions unless you can prove any extenuating circumstances, like family member passed etc, to be voted on by all mods, majority counts, in case it’s a draw, my vote is final.

Telling someone to get fucked, fuck off, take a flying fuck over a disagreement will be allowed as always, but done on the spot and by the member, not a minion/s, and not in a childish manner, if you wouldn’t say something face to face, don’t say it.

Defamation, basically as posted in Rule 9, anything deemed defamatory toward a politician, police, emergency workers or prominent persons will be deleted, if it happens again start at No 1 on the warning list. Stuff like Scott Morrison is a fuckhead, prick of a PM etc will be allowed still, as it’s really not defamatory and is the opinion of the poster, go beyond that and again, read the new warning system.

The decision will be made by the mod team and it stands, if you whinge about it, argue the point, tough shit, we just do not care.

Please take this in and mull it over a bit before lashing out, I am not in the mood to swing my hammer but will if provoked.

6. Posting of photos.
You can post any hunting photo you like in the "Hunt Report" board, a bit of blood shouldn't offend anyone as it's a natural by product of getting shot.
You may also post your pictures and photos in the forums. These are your responsibility and you indemnify AHN against any liability because of their publication. You also relinquish any copyright on the photos by uploading them to our servers.

7. Valid information.
You agree when joining to supply a valid working email address, and place a valid location in your profile, failure to keep these up to date will see the suspension of your account.

8. Posting in forums.
While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.

9. Defamatory posts and comments.
With so many posts lately with members posting so very out there comments on people, very often very well known people, please have a read of the link posted below. We have now decided enough is enough as no one wants to lose their house over this shit, and trust me, that is exactly what we are talking about with defamation cases. While I am officially the publisher as the owner of AHN, the one getting sued because of something *you* said, I can guarantee you will be a co-defendant, we have tools available to track and find anyone posting on this forum and while I would be very reluctant to do so, will use that information to allow you to share in any lawsuit.

As you will read in the story below, truth is not always a defence for defamation and many of you have gone way beyond defamation with some of your comments :ummmno:. Please take a moment to think about what you will be saying and how you would feel if the same was posted about you, very often that is a great way to judge whether to hit the post button or not.

Defamation action over scathing attacks online is more serious than you think.

We have now implemented a few new policies which may well piss a few of you off, as has been mentioned over the past week and a bit, the care factor of the whole mod team is zero. No longer will we accept defamatory comments aimed at Politicians, prominent people, Police or other emergency workers. This has been a long time coming, and I see no reason why it should change the way AHN functions, you will still be free to tear each other a new one, that is just part of the pub scene. But the petty little snipes and group attacks stop. There are now some new rules implemented and some of the less policed ones removed, all in all it should make the place a more fun friendly place for all.

This in no way means discussions have to be sterilised, they can still be debated heatedly without the defamatory remarks aimed at every Politician out there. If you are happy to sign a legal document stating you take full responsibility for any defamatory remarks, you are more than welcome to call them what you like. I don’t want l to lose all I have over this shit and I am damn sure none of you want to either, we have all worked way too hard for it.

My own personal pet is all the anti police comments on here, cops are human beings just like you and I, they are shooters and hunters like you and I, and sure, some of them get a uniform attitude and do the wrong thing, sort of like guys shooting deer in parks with electric dogs or poaching, they are a very small majority. We have lost quite a few very good police members because of shit like this, it stops now.

You really can’t say stuff like John Howard is an idiot or this or that because he isn’t, he is a very smart man, you do have perfect right to tell him to get fucked though, on here or face to face, you may cop a fine for the language in public but that’s it, any other sort of derogatory term aimed at him or any other Politician or prominent person and you will become a co-defendant and most likely lose your house along with mine.

This link will give you some insight if you are not sure what defamation is

I have to reign myself in too, I have posted some dreadful things about many politicians that I am not proud of and it’s high time that stops. You can still tell people to get fucked etc, but I highly recommend you read up on Australian defamation laws as they stand today , I am sure you will be surprised.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws.
